Another challenging challenge from Julene!

I thought I might tackle some rolled paper beads, but wasn't very excited about that. I headed to YouTube & searched "rolled paper" & found  DIY Easy Rolled Paper Rose Tutorial

And what else could I use for my foundation paper but a CKC forgery? The paper behind my photos & journaling is a sample paper I created in this class.

081822 CKC August Challenge #2 - Pennants

 

Master Forger of Ceremonies Julene has chosen to be inspired by the pennants in the inspiration kit for our CKC August Challenge #2!

 

I had these in my counterfeit kit

 

 I ended up with a photo heavy layout so only used one. 

 

Once again inspired by Master Forger Tara I gutted the travel paper & used it as a border (leaving me with all those yummy little square images for my stash. This is an early stop at the peaches on our epic April trip.

I never fail to find the perfect sentiments in the Tim Holtz sticker books!

The chipboard collections came in handy, too.

I really love this page. That pennant is such a cute embelli, actually made out of felt!

081222 CKC August Challenge #1 - Lost or Found?

Master Forger of Ceremonies Julene has chosen a travel themed kit & the CKC Challenge #1 this month will follow suit! 

Getting lost or finding something along the way.

I'm still working on pages from our epic trip this past spring. Two of our destinations were Canyonlands & Arches National Parks in Utah. Early that morning we stumbled upon a sign on our way out of Colorado & followed it to...

A fragile checkerboard of ancient sights scattered across 164,000 acres of high desert in the southwest corner of Colorado in the Great Sage Plain. 24 native tribes claim cultural affiliation, along with generations of farming & ranching families, they continue to have traditional & modern relationships with this landscape.

This area was the epicenter of Ancestral Puebloan communities. This enormous monument is a difficult place to navigate & there are just a few areas ready for the public to explore. It is an area to discover on your own, if you are prepared for the adventure of a lifetime.

 

It was the beautifully preserved ruin of the Lowry Pueblo community...

We were completely alone in that sunrise golden hour & explored to our heart's content. If we ever return to that part of the country we will see more of the land & it's few remaining pueblos, along with the visitor center & museum at Delores, Colorado.

I gutted my forged southwestern paper to create the border (and save a big hunk of that pretty paper, perhaps for other pages about this trip!)

I really loved the top second paper but knew I had NO-THING like it in my stash.

That's when I grabbed my jaunty beret & FORGED!

Then I did this:

289 times!!! 

 To get this quite satisfactory counterfeit!

 I often find a simple way to create what I need for my kit. That is half of what Counterfeit Kit Challenge is about - assembling a reasonable facsimile of the inspiration kit by stash diving & creating an imitation of the kit & its elements. Dog Days of Summer...

Master Forger of Ceremonies Julene has chosen her August CKC inspiration kit. But before we get a look let's meet our August Guest Designer, Caryn Adams Kidwell. She is on Clique Kits international design team as well as Theresa Collins Lifestyle  Studio design Team, and her work can be seen on Instagram @thecraftyCaryn From her intro post she sounds like a lot of fun! Welcome, Caryn!

Hello all!!!I am super excited to be the August Guest Designer for Counterfit Kit Challenge Group.  My name is Caryn pronounced (Care-ren); but no one says or spells it correctly LOL. I was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland (United States). Grew up on the water near the U.S. Naval Academy.  I have been married to my best friend and love of my life for 23 years and we got married on my Birthday; November 20^th (this way my husband only has to remember one date LOL).  I am “Madukes” to KK boy & KK girl. I am an outgoing introvert. 

I just LOVE Crafting!!! Whether I am altering an item, creating a layout, journaling in my planner, or making an mini album or participating in Snail Mail Swaps. I have been dabbling in crafting since I was a kid. I was always excited to be in the Yearbook Club, Photography Club & Art Clubs. I primarily do 12x12 layouts. I'm that girl who does not  Scrapbook chronologically AND I never measure. My Craft Studio is my own personal crafty space; I must see everything I have & mess it up constantly creating. As they say, a cluttered desk is a sign of a "craft genius" :)

Now on to our delightful inspiration kit! Julene says,

I chose this kit because of the green colour mainly,but there's also lots of mustard yellows. These papers make a statement ! (Nobody puts these babies in the corner!) The embellishments provide for a variety of holiday/car trip/beach/walking experiences/outdoors. The whole kit has a bright, fresh feel.
