110117 Archi-scraps November Challenge

Archi-scraps November challenge inspiration:

Fruit
Recently we took a quick little jaunt up to Michigan's "U.P." - the Upper Peninsula.
The lower portion of Michigan is informally known as "The Mitten", for obvious reasons!

You get to the U.P. over an engineering marvel - The Mackinac Bridge, "Big Mac" to the locals.
Opened in 1957, the 26,372-foot (4.995 mi; 8.038 km) bridge is the world's 19th-longest main span and the longest suspension bridge between anchorages in the Western Hemisphere.
Because we live below the bridge, we are considered "trolls" :D

U.P. locals are nicknamed "Yoopers" & enjoy some unique benefits from living "Up North",
like a variety of locally smoked fish from Lake Michigan to the south & Lake Superior to the north.
This was at a gas station at 7:30 in the morning!

Another yummy comfort food that hearkens back to the U.P. mining days are pasties, the original hot pocket meal brought over from Wales  by Cornish miners back in the day. Impossibly thin pastry dough encases meat, gravy, potatoes, onions, & rutabaga and is served with brown gravy.

Something new to us this trip is thimbleberry jam. The flavor reminds me of an uber-sweet raspberry mixed with fig - very unusual & delicious.

All of that to get to the fruity point of my page, lol!

100617 October CKC Mini- Kit Reveal

Oops! I forgot to post this on time...

But you would never know it from our CKC inspiration kit this month!

I'm actually delighted with St. Tropez from Prima, chosen by Julene from Australia
where spring is in full swing,  as I have recently returned from another beachy vacation.

"Visit the French sands of St. Tropez in this beautiful collection by Frank Garcia.
Featuring a beautiful blue, yellow, and vintage color palette,
mixed with modern hand lettering and florals, this collection is sure to transport you out to sea.
St. Tropez is perfect for summer vacations, lazy days, and sea-inspired projects!"

I think I may be warming up to the idea of the mini-kit!
If I decide beforehand on the story or photos it's a snap,
plus I know it will get used up on the project.

Here is my page:

I need to add some journaling + the date.
There is another story to be told here that may become a companion page.
