080119 Archiscraps August Challenge

Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville, Tennessee
Incredible building!
Our Archi-scraps August challenge?
Be inspired by music.

My off-the-page entry comes from Finnabair's class that alters an LP!
Mine doesn't end up with her signature style but I'm happy with it as a tribute to my dear departed Aunie (on the right in this circa 1940s photo.)

Her love of classical music & movie scores formed the background of my childhood.  In fact, this project was crafted on one of her record albums. I purchased a modern day Victrola to play her collection & am enjoying her playlist once again.

I used modeling paste with stencils to create the lacy background & the stylized rose.

I have even included a piece of her needlework. The postcard can be unclipped to read the journaling on the back & serves to represent her career as a congressional secretary. I finished the edge with an almost defunct metallic gold pen.

Love & miss you, Aunie...

Can't wait to see how you are inspired by our Archi-scraps musical building this month!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I would like to bestow on you the "Clever Clef" award for this charming tribute to your aunt. Is the ribbon embroidery her handwork? I find ribbon embroidery to be jaw dropping and gaze stopping. Nice collaging of pretty bits.

    1. Thank you! It will look so great on my mantel. I'd like to thank the team at Archi-scraps, especially Julene for her architectural inspiration.

  2. btw, did you know that in the 40-50 there were street photographers that snapped pictures of people on the street (no less) and then you could purchase said photo. (Replaced later by photo booth with 4 pose strip.) This is why there are so many pictures of people, all dressed up in downtown/city streets. I love these photos for the fashions, and the glimpses of buildings and cars of the day.

    1. I'd never heard that! My family has always taken a lot of photos, even way back, but I do have quite a few "on the street" photos.
