050413 Snakes'n'Snails (& Puppy Dog's Tails!)

Well, it's time once again to flex my creative muscles, even if I have to FAKE IT at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge, lol!
This time around our inspiration comes from Polly Scraps March Kits "Shoreline" & "Totally Rad"!

I love the size of these two kits, with only 10 papers, a matching washi tape, 3 alphas plus a page of word stickers, cute patterned clothespins, fun ball fringe & twines, button accents, adorable clasp envelopes, nice big handful of chip & paper page elements, a few Bingo chips, sequins, & wooden stars & chevrons...

(I've given you some hints as to what I am counterfeiting this time!)
First let's review the papers:

A vertical print, white polka dots on a colored background, large colored dots on a white background, motif paper (threw in the pink for Mother's Day), horizontal stripes, allover print, dots, chevron, horizontal regular pattern (I plan to accent the dimensional doodles with white), and an alphabet patterned paper.  As you might guess, this month I plan to do boy pages - although I loved the nautical theme :~)

The large dot paper should have been easier to counterfeit.  I really do like the random fingerpainted type effect in this use as it was made especially for kiddy pages...but am unhappy to report that Paint Dabbers do not have as much staying power after the first use.  Can you (or should you?) rinse out the dabbers each time before you put them away? This inquiring mind wants to know...

Next are the goodies!

Loved the cute little clothespins & I had a pack that I use on my inspiration wall.
I will probably add some color to a few but will wait to see what pages I use them on.

Wood veneer? No problem - an easy cheat is to simply punch them out of kraft.
I could layer & glue them to give them dimension but I think I'll just put a dot behind them & call it good.
I wanted hearts instead of stars...grandbaby pages!

Those adorable envelopes - I made up a template, chose a paper, cut,
punched, set eyelets, tied twine & voila! I reserve the right to make more as I go.

Last but not least, homemade matching washi tape! Tissue paper, Pitt pens & Scor tape - easy peasy.

So let's open up the Magic Blue Box to reveal...

Off to break it in with a LayOutADay page!

  2. Holy cow! You win the Brilliant Award yet again! I am amazed at the clever ways in which you create "look-alike's" with the products you already have. Thanks for inspiring me to think smarter before buying more stuff.

  3. I am always in awe of the counterfeiting product you come up with - so very impressive! I tend to only actually make stuff if I get it as part of the challenge but you are the master! I bow in deference to your forging abilities! Another awesome kit.
