040115 CKC April Kit Reveal

Another exciting first of the month CKC kit reveal!
The blog hop can be always be found on the April 1st post at Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog.

Please be sure to welcome Sharon, our featured Guest Designer this month!
Known as Scrapping Granny she definitely has a way with sketches.

This month I decided NOT to forge a kit...

I'm sure I'll be fired from the Design Team... :~(
My only excuse?

APRIFOOL'S!

April's kit is the very first Messy Box from the uber creative prolific blogger sisters,
Elsie Larson & Emma Chapman at A Beautiful Mess aka ABM.

 And here's mine:

Let's take a closer look inside the Magic Blue Box!

This kit was probably the farthest possible from anything I own.
I challenged myself to come as close as humanly possible to the original.

After sharing that with the rest of the Design Team a friendly ribbing
ensued so it may be on in April for a Master Forger's  throwdown!
Hence the name “Messy Throwdown”
I think I've come pretty close - check out the pocket page card assortment.
Theirs...

Mine!

I detail more about my kit forgeries in the tutorial post at the CKC blog on the 4th.
(If you've ever been here with me before, you must have known there was more!)

Of course, there has to be some Leslie in there...
so I made my "Les the Mess" add-on.
This was my nickname from my childhood BFF's dad :~)

I tried to keep to the feel of the original by adding more translucent and black & white
pieces, plus some extra gold alphas and three alpha stamp sets.

The little bag of vellum punched shapes & the conversation bubbles were earlier forgeries!

One of the fun things that I included is this ABM emoticon stamp set.
Can't wait to see where these pop up this month - keep your eyes open!
I might have to give a little prize at the end of the month
for the closest guess as to how many there were on my blog this month...

Okay, now get busy - your kit is only as far away as your stash.
And don't forget to visit the Forgeries on the Fourth tutorial post
for good advice on how to counterfeit some of the kit elements.
DON'T MISS IT!
Enjoy the rest of the hop!

  1. NICE! and great joke at the beginning . you got me! :-)

I think your kit is amazing! It could pass for the original and of course, that only happens because of all those amazing forgeries. There is such a great assortment of exactly the right colours and designs - wow, just wow.

But then you sneak in that Leslie add on and my grin broadened! Why didn't I think of that?!?! I have no idea how I'm going to use my kit and a sneaky add-on might have done the trick - ha ha !!!! All the elements are still there but my, it'll add some Lelie-ness to the pages.

    Fabulous as always

  8. First off...you got me! Just call me an April fool! Second, you NAILED IT! Messy Throwdown looks SO MUCH like the original...it's scary! Love how you were inspired to just make it all happen, but it's really no surprise as you truly are THE master forger. Your add-on definitely reminds me more of the Leslie I know. Not the messy part, but the products. So glad you are in such a groove. xoxo

    1. LOL Tina, thanks - feel free to forge it if you'd like - anything goes over here!
The stamps have been a lot of fun to work with, and they're on sale right now over at the kit website (nudge)
I think they will be a rather permanent fixture at hand in my studio :)

    1. Thanks, Sharon! Once I started working with this kit I decided to continue forging to include my pages since this is not a style I would normally do. The kit was really designed for pocket page style scrapping, so I am keeping things very simple (well, relatively simple, lol!) That is yet another facet to the challenge for me this month. So far, so good! Hope you find your vibe for pages with this kit :~)

  12. Leslie you crack me up!!!! The one and only April Fool I've seen today ... and I fell for it totally :-D

A brilliant take on the kit - and a better result if I'm honest xxx

P.S. I'm guessing 25 times for those stamps (plus 10 times on layouts shared ... so 35 times in total)
