Big fat hop this month!

I did all three challenges when they came around this month
but had a couple more pages left in me for these inspirations:
Challenge #2 Sketch Challenge
I went so far afield with my first one that I came back to square one.
This sketch was haunting me!
(The chevron paper was just begging to be feathers.)
The feathers made me think of cowboys & Indians, hence the "barbed wire" twine, which
was totally inspired by a digi element on a page by our own Master Forger, Angela Coles!
I did have a hard time finding a pic of the boys that I could crop into a circle, though...
Then I just grabbed a few things to finish off the page.
Still trying to work in the spare, graphic "Messy" style.
Challenge #3 be inspired by Spring
This page is also the April ScrapHappy in-house sketch.
I may kill this kit yet!
Whodathunkit...

Thanks for stopping by! |
There is a wonderful graphic vibe to both these pages - one bold and the other subtle. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteTerrific pages! Your interpretation of the sketch is so fun and innovative! The barbed twine is the perfect compliment to your chevron feathers! The whole feel of your delight is shown in your sweet fonts, lace-like borders and touches of bright in your second layout. You're doing your kit splendidly!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Janine! Have missed you round these parts :)
DeleteYour first layout is fabulous, love how you turned a card sketch into a layout sketch!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Solange! That was my second attempt - much more successful than the first, although I love how that page turned out (see here: http://lcsmithsaved-outofthemire.blogspot.com/2015/04/041215-ckc-april-challenge-2_12.html)
DeleteWow they are both so cool! I just love the embellishing on the first one and the huge picture in the 2nd one. I've got a grandson that loves trains too so I totally relate to this layout :) Have fun killing that kit!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tina! They are only 2 & 3 but they can build a train set & play for hours... :-)
DeleteGorgeous layouts-beautiful take on the sketch, and I love the huge photo on your spring page!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pages!! I love how you did the feathers and the cowboy and Indian theme. Such a fun and bright page. And your delight page is a real delight to look at. Wonderful page. I think the way you used the stamp under the delight is wonderful.. I am going to use it as inspiration for a page. I happen to own the same stamp or one really close. Love both layouts.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharon! I love when I find those details on someone's page that I know I can translate from my own things. Hope it turns out well! It's been so great having you with the team this month :-)
DeleteThank you. I have loved playing along with you. I have had a wonderful time getting to know all of you a little bit. I really like the counterfeit kit club and have really been inspired to scrap so many layouts because of it.
DeleteWow - where to start? I love the feathers - definitely borrowing your idea to make some of my own. The little lacy edges on the "delight" layout are sweet and dainty, and that one red flower just pulls my eye over to the title. Two wonderful layouts!
ReplyDeleteI am absolutely in awe of that first page, the feathers are amazing, I think you have totally nailed the style. I also love the beautiful simplicity of the second one!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie! I just kept staring into my kit until those chevrons said, Pick us, pick US! :D
DeleteI agree - you really have totally nailed the sketch although I agree that the first time you used the sketch, it turned out great too! I really like the simplicity of the page and I saw it on Pinterest yesterday pinned by someone - off to pin it myself! The second one is also great and three challenges with two layouts - yeah for multi challenges!!!!
ReplyDeleteWowzers! You nailed with the sketch challenge. Whodathunk it? I did! Because we bith like how CKC makes us stretch a little out of our creative norm. The chevron feathers? Delightful. Maybe you will grow to like (love?) chevrons, yet. The chosen photo is perfect. It is strong enough to hold it's' own with your bold design. Super duper layout worthy of magazine publication.
ReplyDeleteWhat type of bulb is that Glory of the Snow? (iris, narcissi, hyacinth?) I am not familiar with that flower, but would like to source it out and try it here.
P.S. It is my learned opinion that a quality wood train set is on of the best investments that can be made. The cost to play ratio is outstanding.
