050119 Archiscraps May Challenge

Archi-scraps May Challenge

Yellow, black & white plus a clock!
And so I begin... with this Tim Holtz Idea-ology Assemblage Clock!

Then I hunt up a particular black & white photo of my mommy & I,
since Mother's Day is celebrated in May here in the U. S.

Spring 1959
I've just completed a major renovation of my studio space due to getting new flooring. Now I hunt & gather what I will need for this project, many of which are Prima/Finnabair products. In the heat of the creative flow I neglected to photograph each step, but they are simple enough to describe.

I began by removing the glass on the clock & coating the entire piece with black gesso. I worked on the background inside of the clock first by adding LuminArte Primary Elements artist pigments & chunky gold glitter, sealing it with final fixative spray. I glued lace to the sides & added a flowering branch to mimic the photo & add a touch of true yellow. I bent the petals of a Prima dimensional metal flower to hold my photo, securing it with raised foam adhesive dots.

I then used matte medium to glue polka dot crepe paper around the outside of the clock. I added lots of gold accents with metallic paint, a jaunty little plaid bow & charm, and decorated the metal butterfly with Prima/Finnabair Opal Magic paints.

The final product meets the criteria - a yellow/(gold), black & white colour scheme plus a clock!

I may continue to challenge myself to try other dimensional projects each month
using the a-ma-zing creative Archi-scraps inspirations!

Won't you join in? Make sure to add your projects to the Linky at Archi-scraps.

042719 Happy Birthday, Blog!

https://www.punchbowl.com/p/ideas-for-a-7th-birthday-party

Happy Birthday, Out of the Mire!
Hard to believe that this makes seven years of blogging...

I originally started the blog to post Design Team work for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog.
I'm grateful to still be on the Team over there, as well as at Archi-scraps.
Mostly I have documented my memory keeping journey, but looking back over time I regret not posting more "Date Day" posts. I had planned to add up the number of posts, views  & the like, but there are some crazy numbers in there!

I'm thankful for those of you who stop in now & then & say hello.

Hoping to keep the light on for awhile longer, Lord willing.

Thanks for stopping by!

041219 CKC April Challenge #1

April 2019 Challenge #1 - April Showers
"When we think of April, we often think of April Showers and the inspiration kit has a lot of weather elements included - rainbows, umbrellas, sunglasses, sun parasols. Let’s be inspired by weather for this challenge!"

Of course I chose my FAVE FORGERY - the parasol paper!

Theirs/Mine
Tossed in some bright & happy goodies & some fun in my journaling to capture a little piece of our recent Spring Break holiday. There will be a future mini-book to document the rest.

My forecast? Creativity ahead!

Please don't forget to show us what you put together by adding it to our Link-up page, post it in our Facebook Community or share it on Instagram - tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcapril2019

040419 CKC April Forgeries

Counterfeit Kit Challenge
It is no crime to create your own version of the trendy,
hip products from the inspiration kit using your own stash & ingenuity.
Lisa's inspiration kit:
Hip Kit March 2019 Kit
I really had a blast with the counterfeits this month!

Just for fun, I tossed in a couple of forged PL cards from an old kit plus these fun pompom accents!

So - where do I begin?!?
My papers were all created by painting or stamping.

Mine!

Theirs...

Those were the easy-peasy ones. This one was a tad more work.

And my personal favorite...

Plus some alcohol inked gems:

And those cute little pompoms discovered totally by accident from the offcuts from a punch!

Inspiration is everywhere!
Hope you found some here.

040119 CKC April Kit Reveal

Lisa is up again as Master Forger of Ceremonies this month! Here's our inspiration kit:
Hip Kit Club March 2019 Main Kit
She says,"I think this is a really lovely colour scheme as a contrast to last month's brighter hues. I love the greens & blues. I see some nice patterns that could be interesting for counterfeiting or just matching up as well as hearts, a good mix of embellis and those bow clips are very sweet - another forgery perhaps?"

There are also some other kits available if you wanted to take inspiration from those and
a great unboxing video if you want to get some more detail about the kit:

But first let's introduce our April Guest Designer, Debbie Stember!

Thing Here At Home
"Hello, my name is Debbie and I have been crafting since I was a child; it's basically what my family did for fun. When I was first introduced to scrapbooking in 2004 I had been doing a lot of quilting, so cutting large pieces of paper into smaller pieces and reattaching them was a very easy transition. I love telling stories and taking photos and playing with color, so this hobby is pretty perfect for me. I made my first kit as part of a challenge by Jill Sprott in the Get It Scrapped community, and it was a revelation as far as how easy it was to use that smaller subset of my stash, so when I found CKC I joined in and stuck around."

Now let's dive right into the Magic Blue Box!

Their papers:
My papers:
As always I got sucked down the rabbit hole of paper by paper matching, but that's okay!
I had a hard time with the staging as their reveals were so tiny - I wanted to show more of mine.
I only hope that I can make them work together in the executing of projects with my kit.

A closer look:

I have a lot of counterfeits this month, and some were arrived at by quite a leap! You'll have to get back here on the 4th for the 411 on that...
