020121 Archi-scraps February Challenge

Layers!

I grabbed my January Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit & immediately grabbed these two papers:

Crate Paper/Maggie Holmes 2019 Heritage "Library" & 2016 Gather "My Story"

As a nod to the inspiration photo's randomly placed levels, I cut up the woodgrain paper in single width sections where they connected in the pattern and played around for awhile layering & weaving them over each other. (Forgot to take a photo)

Then I added my photos on top until I was happy with their placement. Aren't these FUN?

I added black mats to the photos to help them stand off that busy background. The black & white photo got a black foam mat to pop it a bit. I placed a few more little wood strip details where I felt they were needed. Next I added the title from the large black foam letters

& cut a couple of two-way arrows for accents. Stamped the date & called it done!

This fun app showed me afresh how much my daughter & I resemble each other, she & her daughter's shared looks, and how our three generations of women are interconnected.

Time for you to get inspired by architecture with the February Archi-scraps challenge & link up your creation to the Facebook Archi-scraps Community Group to share!

This month we are sponsored by Mystical Scrapbooks  for Australia/New Zealand entries.

012921 A Cherry on Top Becky Fleck Sketch #208

Of course I tipped the sketch over on its side, swapped a few elements, rearranged the title & added a tiny washi tape border! And SSSSHHHHH! You're getting a little sneak peek of pieces from my February Counterfeit Kit Challenge "My Story" kit.

We did something new for 2020 New Year's Eve - we made a charcuterie board!

Although it's a bit difficult to see, my reflection is in the sliding door at the rear. (Where's that selfie stick when I need it?!?) I slipped a photo of it behind the main photo & journaled on the back.

Come on out & play over at A Cherry on Top (ACOT) or Counterfeit Kit Challenge (CKC)!

011821 CKC Challenge #2

Let's Begin!

Master Forger of Ceremonies Lisa says:  A new year, a new month, a new start, a new kit! January is all about beginnings and therefore, I'd like to challenge you to record the start of something new - or a fresh start or a restart - on your pages. Or maybe you could start a new technique for the first time on your page. Or try a new design. Or a new-to-you colour combination. I'm sure you can find a starting point to inspire us all!

Just as I was beginning to work on this prompt, I reached a very important milestone in my health journey - under 200 pounds! Of course I had to document THAT. I used this Becky Fleck sketch from A Cherry on Top:

A sketch has been a good go-to for me lately (plus I get "cherry points"!) I grabbed this 2017 Felicity Jane London paper divided it and combined the back & front to make my background paper. (I liked the little wink at the horizontal scallop in the sketch.)

I added two skinny washi tapes at the join of the two sides (one a scallop!) Then I went searching for some tags. Be still my heart! Beautiful BasicGrey tags - so old they are made from single-sided paper.

I layered up a doily by stamping it with a decorative circle from one of my kit stamp sets, adding a smaller punched circle covered in another of my washi tapes. Next a clothing tag from my new two sizes down dress, which after the final clearance price & a reward discount cost me $6.00! On top of all of that is the smallest BG tag, all tied up together with a pretty bow.

My photo is me standing on the scale at 199.2 - WOOHOO! My bestie coined the phrase "Underland" for falling below 200 pounds. The other large tag contains my journaling on a vellum overlay.

I add this Vicki Boutin puffy sticker phrase where the sketch shows some journaling strips.

As much as I love how the page turned out, I love my story even more!

C'mon - you know you've got a story to tell about a new start, a beginning, a restart, or a personal highlight! Join in over at Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog  & show us over at the CKC Facebook community or on our Instagram account how this challenge inspired you!

And don't forget that we still have this ahead in January:

24th January: Follower Showcase - who has caught our eye this month

·        30th January: Killing Kits - An idea or two for using up the bits & pieces left in your kit box

011221 CKC January Challenge #1

CKC Master Forger Lisa has the perfect challenge to start off the new year of 2021!

Inspired by this pocket card's list of seasonal attributes, she has challenged us to "List It!"

I happened to be noodling a page using this A Cherry on Top weekly sketch challenge:

ACOT Becky Fleck Sketch#205

My kit provided the perfect products!

Obviously, I substituted snowflakes punched from white glitter paper for the cacti, plus I broke up the line of photos into 3 separate units across the page. I got to use my kit coffee mug counterfeit hand-cut file (yay!) plus a few elements fussy-cut from the Simple Stories/Winter Wonderland pocket cards.

My title sentiment was also cut from a pocket card, and my 2021 - the adventure begins list was made from Tim Holtz Idea-ology phrase stickers. The stamps that I tossed into my kit proved useful to create the scalloped border element, the tag & the title circle. And how PERFECT are the 2018 PinkFresh Studio wooden buttons to tie in with the wood veneer snowflake on my mug?

Final note: the white backing to the mug element is one of the Target 2016 Hand Made Modern Sweet Motifs self-adhesive stencils - another may make an appearance used for its original purpose on another page out of this kit! I'm determined this year to wholeheartedly try to kill my kits.

I can't WAIT to see what you create for this challenge. Put that kit to use and List It!

There's plenty to keep you inspired this month so don't forget to come back here regularly for ideas and challenges. The month is going to look like this:

010421 CKC January Forgery on the Fourth

 Our January inspiration kit:

Not Just For Boys Flurries Deluxe Theme Kit

I decided to forge the Carta Bella- Let it Snow "Swirling Snowflakes" paper

and the “Hot Cocoa Mug” cardstock cut designed by Jillibean Soup.

I used Ranger Archival black ink to stamp snowflake images from 2008 Inkadinkado "Winter Trails" and "Cool Christmas" stamp sets, plus a lone snowflake from Making Memories 2010 Noel stamp set to fill in where needed. The background paper is the Paper Studio's 2008 Wood Fence. Easy-peasy, and I sure got in a lot of OLD stash-busting, lol!

The die cut mug was modeled after one of my favorite holiday mugs.

I turned the photo black & white and printed it in Draft mode set to very light saturation to save ink. I ditched the reindeer (that was too fussy to cut, even for me!) and add some striped bands and some steamy heat rising from the cup. A wood veneer snowflake ups the cuteness factor to finish it off.

I hope we inspire you to make some of your favorites from each month's kit! I can't believe I used 2008 elements to produce forgeries from 2020 products! Go for it and show us at the links below.

There's plenty to keep you inspired this month so don't forget to come back here regularly for ideas and challenges. The month is going to look like this:

01012021 January CKC Kit Reveal

2021!

Oh, what a lot of hopes we have pinned on you after the past year. I'm so blessed that MY hope is first in my Saviour, Jesus Christ. He is always good, and always right - no matter what things look like in human terms :)

In a moment we will look at our January 2021 inspiration kit chosen by Master Forger of Ceremonies Lisa, but first let's meet our January Guest Designer, Tamara! Visit her blog HERE

Lisa says, I've known her for a few years since we were on the Scrapabilly team together and she's awesome! I love her scrapbooking pages, her sewing and her adorable cats not to mention her papercrafting in general. And she makes the most fabulously impressive Christmas cards too - I'm trying to find the time to card-lift her designs and see if I can make some as gorgeous as hers!

This is one of her beautiful cards:

Link HERE

Lisa shared this about her choice:  I've gone for a new-to-me kit club and have decided to select the Christmas kit. I know that I often do that for January but I suspect that some of us would like to scrap some Christmas memories from the festive season that has just passed, or at the least we still feel a little bit jolly!
I think it's festive enough if you wanted to go down that route or there are enough non seasonal colours and themes that you can tweak it in that direction, too. There are great photos of all the elements at the link, including a and b-sides which might help if you don't want a jolly kit.

For those in the Southern Hemisphere, I hope you are able to pick out the greenery and softer tones to make something that works for you in the middle of summer. It may not be a beach but maybe you can find a starting point that works - or maybe there's your challenge?

Anyway, I hope you like it and can be inspired to start your creative 2021!

Not Just For Boys Kit Club Flurries Deluxe Theme Kit

So first, let's look at my papers, A & B-sides:

2008 The Paper Studio "Wood Fence" (stamped), October Afternoon/Silent Night "White Christmas", 2016 Simple Stories/Winter Wonderland 3x4" journal cards, 2017 Felicity Jane/London pinstripe, 2015 BasicGrey/Tea Garden "Mint", 2016 Maggie Holmes/Gather woodgrain, Felicity Jane (no branding strip), 2019 Crate Paper/Heritage "Library".

I also tossed in two more pages of the 2016 Simple Stories/Winter Wonderland pocket cards +  their 6x6" paper pad.

 So, here's my "Snowflakes" take!

Plus a few extras:

I feel like this is a pretty manageable size kit for killing it, which I am resolved to do in 2021. I have set up a wooden cheese box on my table to hold scraps in plain sight so they will get used up, starting with an international paper scrap swap that came from Finland! #excited

Now get yourself on to Lori's fabulous reveal!
