010122 Archi-scraps January Challenge

Silver & gold/New Year

I'm glad that Julene chose this inspiration for us this month! I have been working on a lot of thoughts about what 2022 could look like for personal growth. My one little word for the year is Shine!

I couldn't quite capture all the shine in a photo! Gold lamé star ribbon, silver fussy-cut numbers & star sequins, gold gimp trim, gold & silver PinkFresh metallic beads. Detailed shots below:

I hope you are as inspired with the January Archiscraps challenge as I was. Each monthly challenge is unique! Join us in the public Facebook Archiscraps Community Group for more projects from our members.

110121 CKC November Kit Reveal & Blog Hop

Emily - – Felicity Jane
Welcome to November, Emily!

Who is Emily, you ask? Not our Guest Designer but let's greet her while we're on the subject. Master Forger of Ceremonies Lisa has invited a dear old CKC friend, former Master Forger Susanne!

"Hello scrappy friends . . . Susanne, here, joining in again with the Counterfeit Kit Challenge. How fun that Lisa asked me to participate this month, as she and I are early blog friends from back in the last decade + early CKC design team members together. Looking back at those posts, I see my style has changed quite a bit. Still, I love making kits from my sizeable stash, which hubby refers to as my personal scrapbook store.

Some time during this crazy pandemic, I launched a new scrapbook blog adventure at Susanne Stamps and Scraps, along with starting my You-Tube channel. I hope you will check out both. Like the Counterfeit Kit Challenge, there are lots of ways to keep refreshing our interest in this fun, meaningful hobby. So, let’s get to it, shall we?"

Welcome home!

Now let's get to our CKC November inspiration kit! Master Forger of Ceremonies Lisa says:

I wanted something seasonal - I even considered going festive - and looked around for a kit club we haven't used for a while with warm, cosy autumnal kits to choose from. I was really happy to find exactly what I was looking for over at Felicity Jane. Their September 2021, Emily kit has the most gorgeous palette of colours and the kit seems to be full of the most lovely bits and pieces to form a wonderful selection of scrapbooking scrumptiousness. It shouts short days with blue skies and sunshine; the first really bitterly cold morning with heavy frost and mist on the fields; of setting down on the sofa with a new TV show to binge watch while wrapped up in a blanket; of the calm before the storm of December and Christmas!

If you are in a different part of the world and not heading into winter at this time, I hope that the soft shades of yellow, orange, pink and green will inspire you in a warm weather direction instead! I think there's plenty of inspiration to be found in the colours and elements of the kit.

Felicity Jane September 2021 - Emily (details pictured below at this link)

I used the description at the link to pull my papers while ignoring the color scheme: floral/daisies, gingham/dot grid, grid/apple, ledger/chevron, eyelet lace/modern, honeycomb/leaves, 2 FJ solids

My full "MUM's the WORD" kit:

I also pulled more papers - no surprise - and other stuff...

110121 Archi-scraps November Challenge

Gingham or small check

Are you ready to play along at Archi-scraps? Julene has found yet another fabulous architecturally inspired challenge for us!

The reference to gingham reminded me of a childhood apron my aunt made me. It had "chicken scratch" embroidery. I could swear I tucked it away but it played hide & seek with me, so I did the next best thing & recreated a piece on some gingham paper! It was quite a process...

My first problem was the 1/8" gingham squares. They required only 2 of the 6 ply floss. I had to choose a very small needle to be able to pierce 3 holes per side of some of the squares without tearing the paper. Then my cheapie floss, purchased exclusively for stitching on paper, didn't have plies! Ironically enough it was my aunt's legacy stash of craft supplies that provided the needed floss. I decided to glue it to the page in tribute.

My craftiness came honestly through this dear woman & her mother/my grandmother, and my parents. That has been documented elsewhere but this photo is the two of us shopping for craft supplies!

Here's my take on the challenge:

101821 October CKC Challenge #2 - Tags & Labels

May 2021 Hip Kit Club Main Kit

Master Forger of Ceremonies Tracey has given us our second October Counterfeit Kit Challenge!

In the May Hip Kit kit there are a few patterned papers that have labels, tabs and tags on them (American Craft Amy Tangerine Brave & Bold, Pink Fresh Keeping It Real Big Mood and American Craft Jen Hadfield Reaching Out) so for Challenge 2, I want you to use as many tags and labels are you can on your creation. The minimum is three...... the maximum is ???? whatever you can humanely get onto your creation, let see who can get the most!!

I managed to use 34 tags!!! Plus 17 photos.

I included a number of tag tools in my kit for this challenge.

I didn't have a particular idea in mind but the colorful Vicki Boutin papers in my counterfeit kit + a fall color tour road trip taken earlier this month proved the perfect inspirations! I used a tiny leaf punch at the stripe intersections to create two-toned leaves.

I journaled the places that we visited around the edge of the circle.

That gorgeous leaf tag is from Paige Taylor Evans 20 Days of Fall/Autumn Cut File Bundle!

I diecut 15 tags to hold 1-1/2"x2-1/2" photos.

I zeroed in on this part of the spread to show the scattering of leaves but the middle & left photos were of our "Bigfoot/Sasquatch" sighting in a store window! The Upper Peninsula of Michigan has a running joke (at least I think it's a joke?!?) about this, with lots of themed tourist souvenirs - fun!

Using tags on your layouts is as simple as cutting the corners off of a rectangle! I hope you'll share your take on the tag & label challenge with us. Keep creating with your custom kit & watch for these posts to close out October:

  • 24th October: Follower Showcase - who has caught our eye this month
  • 31st October: Killing Kits - an idea or two for using up the bits & pieces left in your kit box

You KNOW that we always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us. You can post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcoctober2021).

100421 October CKC Forgery on the Fourth

Good October, fellow Forgers!

What great inspiration kits for counterfeiting this month at CKC.

Hip Kit Club May Main Kit

Hip Kit Club May Papers
Hip Kit Club May Pocket Life Kit

Hip Kit Club May Embellishment Kit

I focused on the Amy Tangerine paper b-side & the Paige Evans banner embellishments.

The paper was an easy-peasy forgery using washi tape!

The banners were made using a stamp set from Forever in Time + a Pink Paislee Horizon 6x8 pad. I  thought that the scale of a smaller paper pad would suit this better & it reminded me of the original kit.

I stamped the banners on the blue & pink solid papers and cut off the banner ends. I inked up the stamps again - just the ends - and stamped them onto patterned paper.

The largest banner also had a third small element that was a "reveal" of the backside of the banner & I used a darker section of the pink paper for that. Some fussy-cutting & gluing was all that remained to give me a really great counterfeit!

I've got an organizer of smaller alpha stamp sets beside me this month to play with & will add the pink sentiment as needed. Have any of you tried this nuvo glue? My goodness - it's wonderful! It NEVER clogs, tiny stream & in a cute blingie bottle.

I put together a Mixed Media kit which I forgot to show in my reveal:

Also a Space Add-On kit for a specific page I'll be making with the map paper - stay tuned!

I know there will be more inspiration from some of the other Master Forgers, and I hope you will share YOUR counterfeits with all of us. Don't forget what's coming up next:

  • 6th October: Mini-kit Reveal and Project Showcase - inspiration for a smaller kit or project idea
  • 12th & 18th October: Challenges #1 & #2 - to inspire you to get creating from your own kit
  • 24th October: Follower Showcase - who has caught our eye this month
  • 31st October: Killing Kits - an idea or two for using up the bits & pieces left in your kit box

100121 October CKC Kit Reveal & Blog Hop

October 2021

This month our Counterfeit Kit Challenge Master Forger of Ceremonies is Tracey!

The Kit I have picked for October is the May Hip Kit Club kit - it is full of beautiful bright spring colours. There are tags, labels, stickers and fun ephemera die cuts that are all singing out to be forged and scrapped. What really called my name in this kit is the American Craft Paper "Let's Go" from the Buenos Dias collection, the fun colourful world map has me wanting to reach for some of my many travel photos, it made picking this kit very, very easy. - Master Forger Tracey

May 2021 Hip Kit Club Main Scrapbook Kit

I loved the map, too, and had big ambitions to forge it but lacked the skill! I did find a world map paper in my stash & have a plan for it. I analyzed the kit papers & made a list. My stash search yielded surprising results! I've done a side by side below:

I also have an alpha set in my toolbox this month to add the sentiments for a forgery! I hope it was relatively easy to see how each choice was inspired by the original. Care to see the b-sides?

I am loving the thought of using this exuberant color palette! Here's the full kit:
