070113 July CKC Kit "Up Tempo"!

This is an exciting month, being my first on the CKC Master Forger's Design Team!
What a thrill, and as Peter Parker's Uncle Ben said, With great power comes great responsibility :~)

Here is this month's fab inspiration kit "Summer Fun" from the Crop & Create Delivered folks at Scrapbook & Cards.

I am naming my counterfeit kit Up Tempo because I think this has a very contemporary graphic feel to it
and I am a bit more of a vintage, traditional type - definitely stretching me a little!

So let's get to the fun!
I truly love the kitting as much as I do scrapping with it, and the challenge to counterfeit has opened up
a whole new avenue of creativity for me. Lately I have been tackling the papers, and this month is no exception.
I decided to do 6x6 papers for my kit this month. First up? Simple Stories Urban Traveler Let's Go!

This made me think of washi tape, and since I have a little in my stash...ahem...

Let's keep it to the chevron/striped tapes for this one.

Not bad!

Next up, American Crafts Lucky Charm Wild Hearts...

I really liked this, but decided I would use red instead as last month my kit had a ton of yellow in it.
I cut my base paper to 6x6 (really glad I am doing the smaller size with THIS counterfeit, lol!)
Punched a bazillion little hearts, positioned them & very carefully placed it in my spray booth box.

Next up? Pebbles Love You More Zach.

I liked the stars between the words on the original so I chose the "Family" stamp with the hearts.

Next up? Simple Stories Urban Traveler Bingo Cards (we are using the B side)

This was the easiest one by far! And I feel the colors work better for my kit, too.

Now on to the bits & pieces!
Here's a go at the custom stamp set, which is not clearly seen in the inspiration kit.

Maya Road Kraft Camera & Tickets counterfeit

A little tip when counterfeiting tickets - it's so much nicer to have the perforation & a tracing wheel is the perfect tool for it.

Pebbles Basics clothespins counterfeit - watch for the painted versions in the final kit reveal.

And it was bound to happen, sooner or later - a failed counterfeit attempt!

I have been certain that adding a good big blob of Glossy Accents to a punched hole of colored cardstock would yield the PERFECT faux enamel dot, but alas - I was DEAD WRONG as you can see!

Looked good wet, but dried flat, bubbly & was impossible to reach all the way to the edges... sigh...

Now let's open up the Magic Blue Box!

"Up Tempo"
  Shall we play a game?
I Spy... hellos, ampersands (&), hearts, stars, cameras, buttons, and the number "6".
Give me your count of each & whoever is closest to actual will get a little happy mail prize!
I will even give you a closer look...

  5. You are more patient than I. I tried punching the hearts to counterfeit a 12x12 and I gave up halfway through! Welcome to the team from one newbie to another. Great kit!

    1. Hahaha, Ashley - I feel your pain with those hearts! I'm thinking you could just make them larger so there wouldn't be so many. SO HAPPY to be here with all of you creative geniuses!

  6. Brilliant counterfeiting ... you are already an amazing counterfiter. Love the heart paper and the tickets (I take a hole punch and nip out each corner too).

P.S. My Glossy Accented brad also failed due to air bubbles! I coloured pearls with Sharpies instead

  8. Master forgery at its best my dear Leslie! The heart paper is my top fave and I should have a go. So very gorgeous. I always leave it too late to do much counterfeiting but you make me inspired! What a wonderful first DT kit. This will be a great six months.

  9. Awesome counterfeit tutorials! Great ideas all the way around. A tip about the whole punched circle and the glossy accents: put the hole punched paper on glue dot and tape the backing paper down (tends to curl up). Then put the glossy accents on it. This gives you a little more control over getting it off the paper. They still flatten; that can't be helped. But it makes it easier to get it all the way to the edge.
