100117 Archi-scraps October Challenge

Archi-scraps October inspiration: knots
As if this wasn't interesting enough, there are those strange barbs sticking out of the bottom!
Knots. We will simply focus on knots...

I have settled on this sketch to follow:
September 15th Stuck!Sketches
And this cute photo from Grandparents Day!
Yes - I wore the tiara all day.

I decided to reorient the sketch to better suit my long skinny photo,
plus I liked the little banners being at the bottom!
(I removed the proprietary information as it was visually distracting.)

As I ruminated on the papers I might choose I remembered a 6 x 6" pad of Basic Grey's 2011 "Out of Print" collection. I needed something that would work with the whimsical photo plus all of the black & I knew it had the right colors. I grabbed a black & white diagonal stripe from Felicity Jane for that strip on the right, and an FJ journaling card for my title. My knots appear on the buttons in the flower centers & hold the dangling beads in place on the tag at the bottom. Much fussy-cutting later produced this:

I ended up with perhaps the most literal interpretation of a sketch that I've ever done!

I cannot WAIT to see where this Arch-scraps inspiration takes YOU.

090817 Pre-Made Vacation Traveler's Notebook & Kit

Traveler's Notebook

I have a trip coming up soon & have really enjoyed scrapping on the road on other vacations. I decided at the last minute to throw a homemade book together. I am considering asking for an Instax camera for my birthday - any feedback? I would love to come home with a finished product! Otherwise I plan to have my photos curated, processed & ready to print when I get home.

I made a traditional size notebook using some papers from a collection pad. That gives me white B sides & alternated them with some plain white inserts about to be discarded from a new album. I then cut elements from the patterned papers to add some interest & give me a stash of embellishments.

Front cover

Back cover
I loved the scripty sentiments but thought I would go over them with a white pen.
It was dried up so I grabbed a gold one - serendipity!

I've packed up a kit for the road.

Stay tuned!

Oops - forgot to post this before we left... vacay brain!

091217 CKC September Challenge #1

"The cards in the Lost River Documenter Kit have some fabulous 'starters' as journalling prompts or for use as titles. For example, Our Stories Matter; Let's Go Outside; Weekday Ventures; I Can't Go Because I Don't Want To; Go See Do; Let The Adventure Begin - and that's only a few of them! For this challenge, choose any one of the cards as inspiration - and create a layout, card, or ... well, anything, using one of the phrases as a prompt for your storytelling."

Two of my darling grandchildren started kindergarten this year & the card sentiments highlighted above are the perfect description for their photos!

It's okay to LOL
I found this adorable page to scraplift for my grandson - I can even use my forged pennant!
Link to process video HERE
The title includes his quote, "It was awesome!"

He wrote his name, which is fun to have preserved.

All of what was memorable in his eyes...

For my granddaughter's  layout I LOVED the Stuck Sketches September sketch.

When I saw both of these photos I teased my daughter about how My Little Pony shoes really must be magical, and her answer became  the title.

As always I had some splatter boo-boos to rehab, which always produces great little design elements!

I hope you are ready to take a try at the challenge!

Happy scrapping!

090417 CKC September Forgeries

You may remember from my kit reveal that
I used the mood board from the Studio Calico blog as my inspiration.

Theirs:

Mine:

These are the forgeries I've made for this kit:

The striped paper, based on the Snake Charmer Basket
was quite easy. I used textured cardstock to mimic the woven texture.
I angled the ends of  1-1/4" strips of the blue, half in each direction to keep the texture showing.

The gold foiled wood veneers were irresistible!
I used some positively ancient product meant for fabric with Zig Blue glue.

The photo card just meant adding a hoarded Hambly rub-on to a scenic cut apart card!

I l-o-v-e pennants. A little work in Photoshop created a custom banner for my grandson!
I mounted it on yellow felt to give it a true pennant feel.

The cute enamel cup & the doodled tree paper made me itch to give it a try, so I grabbed a pencil first & then a Sharpie. I knew I had a tiny starburst stamp that would add the perfect touch to the eclipse!

I hope I've proved once again that counterfeiting doesn't have to be elaborate or complex!
Choose the pieces of the kit that speak to you & find a creative way to make them your own.

On to the inspiration! Clair tells about her choice for this month's kit: "I've chosen a kit from September 2016 that, to me at least, seemed like a nice transition between summer and autumn. It makes me think of the outdoors, camping, cooler evenings and warm cider. It's the Lost River Kit from Studio Calico. I hope that you like it!"

September 2016 Lost River Kit from Studio Calico
Let's open up the Magic Blue Box & explore my September counterfeit!

There are a lot of elements I liked (pennants, kraft envelopes, doodled tree paper),
but I was more inspired by the mood board on the blog reveal (hence the name of my kit):

Yummy!Here is my gridded match-up:
I have two grands starting kindergarten this year plus eclipse photos to scrap, which directed many of my choices. (I don't always think ahead like that!) I've rounded out my kit with those pages in mind.

My version of the Project Life-style cards:

I have collected some alphas & will return to my stash as needed.

Hop on for more Master Forger inspiration, and don't forget to return on the 4th for our Forgery on the Fourth post that gives you the inside scoop of creating counterfeits of some of your favorite elements. That could be as easy as a free printable download, so don't miss it!

Can't wait to see what you put together!
