060121 June Archi-scraps Challenge

Use fringing

Archi-scraps can always be relied on to give you unique challenges!

I had already made a piece of fringed paper for my February 2016 Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit & the link shows you how you can, too.

My daughter had just posted this anniversary collage so I grabbed it. I left the branding strip on the background paper as it was perfect! Found an old pre-made fringed trim added at the bottom, some adorable dimensional floral embellishments from Shimelle, I think. Used a Thickers "Celebrate!" banner & a few other bits & bobs. Quite simple but great looking!

I'll bet that you already have some fringe in mind! Be sure to post on the Archi-scraps Facebook Community.

051821 May CKC Challenge #2

Master Forger of Ceremonies Julene's second challenge is the colour palette above.

Be inspired by the colours turquoise and red. Scrap a page or cards featuring these colours, plus white, black and kraft permitted as well.) These two photos will help you. It doesn't have to be a kitchen/cooking theme!

I really love this color combo! And I loved this sketch from a private group I'm in.

I flipped it on it's side so that the strips could become banners. I also ignored the chevrons lol! I used a bubble border punch to represent the horizontal circles. I had to cut my white cardstock background in order to put a row of punched circles on either side of that horizontal. I backed the circles with a darker teal per the "recipe" & then covered the seam with a b-side paper that perfectly mimics the black & white check in the inspiration photo! Serendipity...

If you were following along at CKC on iNSD, you might recognize this layout as the final challenge, which was to use what was all over your desk at the end of that Saturday. I had to prepare ahead for that post but had been working all day with my kit & here is what my desk looked like:

Because we work ahead on the Design Team, I came across this charmingly precious photo of the Queen & her consort posted after his death. I knew my kit was the perfect product because of the color scheme.

I have scrapped some of  the major "royal" events over the years as I came to have a real affection for Britain from visiting a few times. Prince Philip's passing definitely earned a place in my archives.

I hope you get a chance to work on Challenge #2 & I'll be looking for your creation! There's plenty to keep you inspired this month so don't forget to come back here regularly for ideas and challenges. The month is going to look like this:

051221 May CKC Challenge #1

Master Forger of Ceremonies Julene's first challenge for us?

Scrapbook an OLD recipe. Perhaps you have one handed down from mother or grandmother or further back than that. Use those cookery items you added to your kit to scrap it. You could tell a little about the original person on your layout or perhaps even add a small photo of them.

Last month on our Spring Break trip we visited Laurel, Mississippi, home of the HGTV HomeTown renovation/improvement show. On the season's last episode a legendary Laurel recipe surfaced inside a cupboard door - Miss Dot's Sour Cream Pound Cake! The cake would be delivered to anyone who moved into the neighborhood over the years, including the hostess of the show. The recipe included a phone number & they actually reached Miss Dot. A cooking date was arranged, the cake was baked, and the very next day many fans of the show baked it themselves. I decided to give it a try and I'm sharing the recipe with you!

It was fabulous, especially since I haven't been eating carbs or sugar, hehe. I cut the cake into 24 small servings & froze what we didn't eat that night. I think I overfilled the bundt pan but read later that I could have made muffins with the extra batter. You could also make it in loaf pans.

I had a lot of fun working with my uber-themey kit. Now it's your turn to give this challenge a try & celebrate a special recipe or person!

There's plenty to keep you inspired this month so don't forget to come back here regularly for ideas and challenges. The month is going to look like this:
  • 18th May: Challenge #2 - A little extra inspiration to make the most of your kit!
  • 24th May: Follower Showcase - Who has caught our eye this month?
  • 31st May: Killing Kits - Some ideas for using those last little bits!

050121 May CKC Kit Reveal

MAY all of your culinary adventures this month be tasty!

Master Forger Julene had this in mind when she chose the Counterfeit Kit Challenge inspiration kit - more on that in a moment...

First let's welcome our May Guest Designer, Kyla Skidmore Schrake!

Be sure to stop in at her blog & enjoy her creativity.

Now let's look at our vintage inspired inspiration kit!

Close to My Heart's "Eat Play Love Scrapbooking Workshop Kit"
Companion kits are at the bottom of the page at the link.

So want to get a look at mine?

The foundation for my version is the 2018 Authentique/Ingredient collection! The color is mostly perfect & I selected the foodie-oriented papers. I scavenged my stash for every wood veneer on subject. A good variety of alphas, embellishments & stickers round out the mix.

Two extra papers unearthed after I put my kit together got tossed in at the last minute & may/may not be perfect for a challenge this month... hmmm...

So put on your apron, follow the recipe & gather your ingredients for the perfect counterfeit kit!

Need a little more inspiration? Keep checking out what our Guest Designer & Master Forgers have whipped up on the blog hop!
