060420 CKC June Forgery on the Fourth

June CKC inspiration kit reminder:

For me, the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog is a trifecta of creativity. First is hunting & gathering my kit. Second is the forging. Third is the fun of using my goodies to make the challenges! I got really ambitious this month after taking the month of May off.

Four paper forgeries, embossed tags, tiny envelopes, labels, painted wood veneer & punched butterflies, and that adorable little dimensional rainbow piece. (The green dot paper is actually a "spritzed up" piece of April 2019 counterfeiting!)

Mine/Theirs
I didn't even gesso the background paper, just had a play with a few colours of cheap craft paint & a silicone brush.

I had the perfect Heidi Swapp rainbow stamp to make this happen!

The most ambitious of the papers, but perhaps the most successful forgery?
Next up are those cute little envelopes (template link). I chose 6x6" papers (for the smaller scale) from a travel collection. The double-sided papers gave me a fun accent pattern on the inside of the envelopes. I used the tracing wheel to create mock perforations on my stamp, and cut the insert paper from an index card like the inspiration.

Printed the template on card stock, cut out pattern & traced onto patterned paper. I even made a little stamp!

Great creative way to kill time, lol!

I hope you found something you loved in the June kit that you can counterfeit. Remember to post it and get a round of applause! And of course, don't forget that we'll be back throughout the month to give you some tips, ideas and challenges as you put together and use your kit.

Here's what we have coming up this month:
  • June 6th: We'll reveal a couple of mini-kits and projects, in case you're a little limited for time this month and would prefer a more petite kit.
  • June 12th & 18th: We'll give you two challenges to help you use the kit you've made.
  • June 24th: I'll be showcasing one of the CKC community who's caught my eye this month
  • June 30th:  Another killing kits installment to help us finish off our kits!
We always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us. You can use our Monthly Link-up page, post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcjune2020).

060120 CKC June Kit Reveal

A girl can dream...

Counterfeit Kit Challenge's June kit is the Wonderful World 2019 loosely travel-based kit from Clique Kits International. Before I show you, though, let's welcome our returning Guest Designer, Becca!

Hello! I'm Becca S, a teacher & blogger living in the USA heartland. I do lots of card-making and dabble when I can in scrapbooking. My favorite size dimension is 8.5" x 11" for scrapping along with pocket page inserts and TNs. I've also used notecard type of small journals for Bible verses. Using scaled down layouts or splitting a layout is what I use for the index cards. Personal-wise my husband and I celebrated 24 years of semi-bliss (!) this past January!!! We need to start making some special plans for #25. My first niece, who is my god-daughter,  is expecting my first great-nephew in mid-October, so that's an exciting upcoming event that we are looking forward to. Stay safe and healthy.

Here is our inspiration kit, courtesy of Master Forger Tara!

There are more goodies up close in the CKC reveal post - be sure to check it out! I did a lot of forging this month, and managed to find some resources for you - be sure to visit the Forgery on the Fourth post for those.

Ready for a look at my Gratitude version?

I am using my kits to scrap 6 x 8-1/2" Covid-19 pages. I'll make some photo corners as I go along with the punch, phrases with the tiny alpha stamps, and I've pulled some other stamp sets (not shown) with some ideas in mind for later.

Hope this finds you well & safe. Enjoy the rest of the hop!

051220 LOAD520 Abbey Load - Week #1 Recap

First week of LOAD520 - I'm not working on schedule but I am using the prompts.
I am doing these pages for my Covid-19 book, using my CKC iNSD kit!

1 - Love Me Do + 4 things: 2 papers, 1 frame, 1 alpha
2 - Beatlemania + #subtitle

3 - I Want to Hold Your Hand + blue/album cover (title)
4 - An original vs reproduction/copy
5 -Birthday + birthday products

6 - Here Comes the Sun (better times) + yellow
7 - Please Please Me + homophone

I've been surprised & delighted that I'm able to stay on point with my Covid-19 project & still stay within the prompts. Working in the smaller size makes LOAD very achievable.

The LayOut A Day "LOAD" challenge at Scraphappy.org is an outstanding boon to your scrappy mojo! Head over there & take a look at all the goodness membership affords.

iNSD CKC Fantasy Scrapbook Kit mood board inspiration
I just love our uber-creative Design Team! Thanks to Master Forger Laura, who found us this awesome mood board, we have collaborated to create an iNSD FANTASY SCRAP BOOK kit.
Each of us picked out a patterned paper, one embellishment and a "must-have" item.

Echo Park - Coffee Collection paper, Felicity Jane - Grace Collection journaling cards, PinkFresh Studio watercolors

As well as curating our very own CKC Fantasy Scrapbooking kit, each member of the MF team also came up with a challenge which we will be posting on the hour, every hour through the day - so set your alarm and see you back here soon!

You can find the details both on the blog and our FB Counterfeit Community where you can also share your kit & challenge creations.

050120 Archi-scraps May Challenge

Use brown and cream with ecru lace

The latest Archi-scraps inspiration is the exotic Dar Al-Hajar in Wadi Dhar outside of Sana'a, Yemen. It looks like an elaborately decorated chocolate cake!

I can't help but think of heritage layouts when I think of this colour scheme, and I happened to have the perfect photo at hand.

This is my father in-law & his sister. The early death of their mother resulted in the five brothers & sisters being separated. Being reunited really cemented the bond between these two for life. I'm planning to have him dictate his story when are able to see them again.

It's your turn to be inspired and share on the Linky at Archi-scraps!

041820 CKC April Challenge #2

This is a journalling challenge. Use the sentiments from the stamp sets included in the inspiration kits as a starting point for your story. I've attached the stamp sets, so you don't need to head off and find them! - Master Forger Clair

I have had many days of late where it has been difficult to find my creative mojo. It's not for lack of projects to do & stories to tell but my heart has been elsewhere. I've had a tidy up in the studio & that revived my enthusiasm a bit.

The phrase that jumped out at me was "so this happened" (for obvious reasons.)  I had included a lot of phrases in my kit geared toward documenting this epic time in history that we are all experiencing. This b-side of the 2018 PinkFresh Studios/Indigo Hills 2 "Valley" navy paper seemed perfect for the subject, with its grungy vibe with splatters & splashes of black.

I stamped some of the new vocabulary of the times onto the background.

Fussy-cutting that teeny weeny globe with a virus? Totally worth it!

Stamping brings a whole new avenue of creative expression

The grands live only 5 miles away but a quick drive-by at a safe distance is as good as it gets these days...

Don't forget to get back to the CKC blog for:
  • April 24th: Clair will be showcasing one of the community who's caught her eye this month
  • April 30th: We'll be offering another installment in our Killing Kits Series to help you find ways to use up all of your kit.
We always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us. You can use our Monthly Link-up page, post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcapril2020).

Hope this post finds you & yours well & safe. This, too, shall pass.
