060420 CKC June Forgery on the Fourth

June CKC inspiration kit reminder:

For me, the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog is a trifecta of creativity. First is hunting & gathering my kit. Second is the forging. Third is the fun of using my goodies to make the challenges! I got really ambitious this month after taking the month of May off.

Four paper forgeries, embossed tags, tiny envelopes, labels, painted wood veneer & punched butterflies, and that adorable little dimensional rainbow piece. (The green dot paper is actually a "spritzed up" piece of April 2019 counterfeiting!)

Mine/Theirs
I didn't even gesso the background paper, just had a play with a few colours of cheap craft paint & a silicone brush.

I had the perfect Heidi Swapp rainbow stamp to make this happen!

The most ambitious of the papers, but perhaps the most successful forgery?
Next up are those cute little envelopes (template link). I chose 6x6" papers (for the smaller scale) from a travel collection. The double-sided papers gave me a fun accent pattern on the inside of the envelopes. I used the tracing wheel to create mock perforations on my stamp, and cut the insert paper from an index card like the inspiration.

Printed the template on card stock, cut out pattern & traced onto patterned paper. I even made a little stamp!

Great creative way to kill time, lol!

I hope you found something you loved in the June kit that you can counterfeit. Remember to post it and get a round of applause! And of course, don't forget that we'll be back throughout the month to give you some tips, ideas and challenges as you put together and use your kit.

Here's what we have coming up this month:
  • June 6th: We'll reveal a couple of mini-kits and projects, in case you're a little limited for time this month and would prefer a more petite kit.
  • June 12th & 18th: We'll give you two challenges to help you use the kit you've made.
  • June 24th: I'll be showcasing one of the CKC community who's caught my eye this month
  • June 30th:  Another killing kits installment to help us finish off our kits!
We always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us. You can use our Monthly Link-up page, post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcjune2020).

100418 CKC Forgery on the Fourth

My October counterfeit kit, "Shalom"

When I chose the kit for this month, I knew there were some wonderful opportunities to flex my forger muscles. As always, some turned out as envisioned - others? not so much!

First I wanted to try some papers:

Jillibean Soup “Shades of Color” Gregarious Glow
& Pink Paislee “Pick Me Up” #21 & #9.

I have had a very chaotic September & when I worked on these forgeries I did them from memory. Definitely proof that I have senioritis, lol! The first is simply washi tape, the other two some beloved Basic Grey 6x6 pads.

I just punched out the chevron shapes and used adhesive photo squares behind the starbursts.
A little fussy but definitely doable.

Next I knew I wanted a large woodgrain word for a page about my 2018 One Little Word.
I printed it to size using the Sandat font which connected the letters beautifully.
I then trimmed it & clipped it onto a slice of woodgrain paper & fussy-cut.

I loved both the taped & the framed sentiment, so they got married!
These are a digi mock up, but as I create with the Maggie Holmes frame paper, I will decide what I want them to say & type them on my vintage typewriter. I will use the washi tapes I used in the paper forgery above that got tossed into my kit as I cleaned up.

I have some back-to-school pages to make this month so I plan to use these puffy stickers to forge the adorable Pink Fresh Studio “Let Your Heart Decide” Thought paper. I think I will only need a strip so will do this one on demand.

Well! I hope that you are inspired to try your hand at counterfeiting!
Be sure that you check out the handiwork of the rest of the team on the Forgery on the Fourth post at Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog. We'd love to see what you create, so be sure to post by using the Link Up page here on the blog, posting in the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Facebook Community Group, or on Instagram (find us @counterfeitkitchallenge and share with #counterfeitkitchallenge).

070418 CKC July Forgeries

Although my rogue Beautiful Maggie kit this month didn't really pick up on the motifs
in the inspiration kit

I decided to make a little extra inspiration for our followers.

First, the fun banner paper in the Paper Kit made me want to make an actual banner!

I looked for stamps that represented some of the motifs in the kits - camera, clock, travel imagery, guy stuff, birthday/party, summer... then I looked for sentiments that would apply.

Always fun to create!
Hope you are inspired.

061218 CKC June Forgeries

Here is our CKC June kit:
and a closer look at the papers:

I'm not sure where that spotted paper came from, but I tackled that plus an eyeglass knock-off.

Easy-peasy with this Tim Holtz layering stencil & some acrylic paints.
Just made one panel but I wish the colors where brighter...

Loved this fun paper! Immediately knew that I would find a stamp & play with watercolor.

I am probably going to use my kit this month to make a mini-book of the
beachy vacation we've just returned from so this was a fun playful image.
Remember to stamp off the edges for a better look.

If you look close up it's pretty messy, but watercolor is very forgiving!

Hope these were a help to you.
