090117 September Archi-scraps Challenge

Photo from Tibet - use lots of something

Archi-scraps Challenge blog never fails to inspire! I had some photos from a recent luncheon ready to scrap & initially thought I would smother my page in flowers to pick up on the floral paper tucked beside the photos.

And then I found the heart paper...

...and the big gold "lovely".

A lot of hearts, a lot of gold, and a lot of love <3

083017 2nd Annual Myrtle Beach Trip Album

Soon to be followed by the 1st Annual Myrtle Beach Trip Album, lol!

Oops! Forgot to add the date!

I used a set of clearance bin fancy file folders to make my book.
I knew they wouldn't lie flat when joined together, so I used some techniques from this book

Amazon link HERE
to stitch them together with a little give.
The purple stitching is visible in some of the page photos.
I added a decorative paper to cover the bound edge.

As I had used the back page I wanted to protect it,
so I added a vellum book jacket to the binding paper.
It folds inside to keep it in place.

Enjoyed the whole process of putting this together & am so happy with the result!

080617 August CKC Mini-Kit Reveal

In my part of the CKC world, it is currently the

My August mini-kit is based on the July Gossamer Blue Traveler Notebook kit.
I liked the lighter look of the TN kit & knew I could find some close matches for my mini.
Gossamer Blue July 2017 Traveler's Notebook kit

I also liked this layout by Design Team member Jill Keller from the Gossamer Blue blog HERE.
It's always fun to check out what others have done with the goodies in the kit!
I gathered this little page kit, called "Refresh":

I combined a few papers from a  recent purchase - the Pink Fresh Dream On collection, which I felt captured the vibe of the inspiration kit - with some pieces from the Felicity Jane April Caroline kit. Tossed in a couple of flair from my stash & curated my own stamp set. At this point I waz intending to scraplift the page above... but then the creative mess starts & I zig instead of zag - and it's all good!

I used the Wish paper for my background.

The bottom two sentiments from the Aspire paper were perfect for my daughter's 30th birthday page.
I added hand stitching to the word "smile" to add a little texture & bring attention to it.

The Trance paper was perfect for fussy-cutting some tiny embellishments for the sentiment strip.

Felicity Jane Caroline elements finished off embellishing, including the journaling card, the cute little banner, the rubber saying on the large photo, the little sentiment tag + the stamping above the number 30 & on the small photo. These two collections played so nicely together!

Here's the finished page:

Even though my result was far from the inspiration, it really helped to have that starting point.

I hope you enjoy making your project mini-kit as much as I did!
