020122 Archi-scraps February Challenge

Roses & squares

This beautiful deco design inspires our Archiscraps team this month!

I started with this newly acquired 49 and Market Peace & Joy - North Pole paper for my background. I actually bought two for the b-side.

I had already decided to paper piece with this Julie Nutting stamp,

along with multiple stamped roses, but once I got going with my placement I knew I needed a different balance on the left side.

The Sizzix leaf die was perfect to build a wreath along with a pack of Prima flowers.

I used the Felicity Jane tiny heart in a square stamp to dress up the corners of the patterned paper. I don't think you would have guessed if I hadn't told you!

After placing all the elements I needed just a little subtle something more on the background & used a few of the AC Bible journaling stamps.

The Proverbs 31 passage is a challenging one. Starting at verse 10 it sets out God's thoughts on what makes a virtuous woman. I used to dub her "that woman" with derision because I felt I could never measure up. There are lots of things in my nature that rebel against these precepts. No excuses. That rebellion is against my Saviour. I don't want that, so I asked Him to teach me. It has been a life's work, and I'm still alive! Meaning it didn't kill me, and there's still much work to do - with the Lord's help!

John 3:30 says, "He must increase, but I must decrease."

I add, Until I am invisible. May you see Christ in me.

011822 CKC January Challenge #2 - Use a Sketch Pinterest Board

Master Forger of Ceremonies Cindy says, Challenge #2 is to use a sketch from my January CKC 2022 Pinterest Board https://www.pinterest.com/cindyf2456/ckc-january-2022/

I combined this with the January Kraft+ Challenge - Dreaming of Travel to scrap an anniversary overnite we took in December.

I managed to include 8 photos! This layout will go into our Lighthouse album. I was really happy that I remembered to use those cute little alpha beads.

I was really happy to be able to include the panoramic photo & still have plenty of journaling room on the tags. The CKC challenge is always three-fold: choosing the story to tell, the photos to use & the products from my kit. It's always a fun process, and the addition of a choice of sketches was a bonus! Jump in and join the fun and be sure to post in the community!

Here is what the rest of January looks like:

  • 21st of January: Surprise Challenge
  • 24th of January: Followers Showcase - who has caught our eye this month
  • 30th of January: Killing Kits - an idea or two focusing up the bits and pieces left in your own kit.

You know that we always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us. You can post them in our Facebook Community or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcjanuary2022).

011222 CKC January Challenge #1 - Use Your Tools!

  Meet Fred!

The cousins built this snowman with their Bampa.

January's Master Forger of Ceremonies Cindy has set us the perfect first Counterfeit Kit Challenge of the new year!

You may have received a tool or two for Christmas. Well let's put it to use and let no dust collect on it. So, pull out your punches or dies, that stamp set, your embossing folders or that new cut file and make a project with it.

My daughter & granddaughter were able to come from way down south to celebrate Christmas with the rest of the family this year. It was glorious! (Fred is a little worse for the wear after weathering snowfall after snowfall since his creation.)

I used my new Cricut Explore Air 2 with free cut files from Scrapbook & Cards Today, plus punches & dies from my kit to create a flurry of snowflakes for my take on this challenge! You might recall that I went rogue with the color scheme of my counterfeit kit for a winter vibe.

I used a sketch from another group I'm in.

Really happy with how this turned out. There was a LOT of weeding!

Be sure you keep up with all the fun & creativity with CKC.

Here is what the rest of January will look like:

  • 18th of January: Challenge #2 to inspire you even more to get creating from your own kit.
  • 21st of January: Surprise Challenge!
  • 24th of January: Followers Showcase - who has caught our eye this month
  • 30th of January: Killing Kits - ideas for using up the bits and pieces left in your kit

You know that we always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us. You can post them in our Facebook Community or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcjanuary2022).

010122 CKC January Kit Reveal & Blog Hop

Cindy is our Master Forger of Ceremonies to ring in 2022! "I have picked a digital kit from Traci Reed Designs called On the Go and Going Slow. I love the colors, the large variety of elements, the variety of three sets of alphabets and of course there is the "busy as a bee" and a "snail, slug life" side. I still have the pictures to scrap of 2021 that are not all about Christmas and this will be perfect for both Christmas, Travel, birthdays or celebrations - just all-around scrapbooking."

I loved the variety but decided to change up the color scheme for winter. I tried to capture many of the elements in the inspiration kit.

The first paper is actually a white glitter paper that is difficult to photograph. The remainder of the first row are from the Carta Bella Winter Market collection. The second row are from the Simple Stories Feelin' Frosty collection. Normally I don't use a collection but felt okay about it as the inspiration was designed as a collection.

I added some glittery mixed media products to play with, snowflake punches & wood veneers & dies & stamps, hexagon punches in a nod to the inspiration plus I love them, I even managed to find some of those alpha beads! A pack of some vintage papers from 49 and Market completes my counterfeit, along with phrase stickers, enamel dots & an ephemera pack from the Feelin' Frosty collection.

Here's a closer look:
