120117 Archi-scraps December Challenge

December's Archi-scraps challenge is just lovely.
Jaipur, India - challenge is *PINK*
My littlest grand had her second birthday this year & her photos were begging to be scrapped.

Guests were greeted at the door with this adorable flamingo wreath.
The gold mirrored accents couldn't be more perfect,
supported by the sparkly gold trim on the ribbon & the gold stitching on the title.

Total fave photo is that little face glowing with the delight in a fingerful of frosting!
Another little hit of gold from the paper clip tassel & the little chipboard arrow.

A big finish with the bold gold glitter Thickers.

A little bonus for me was the fun of following another challenge in the private Scraphappy group.
Three options were one row, column or diagonal; two row/column/diagonals, or the complete card!
There will be prizes...

111317 Autumn

I recently bought these adorable ancient 2007 Basic Grey Mellow {un}DRESSED chipboard pieces.
I wanted them dressed so I pulled out the precious BG 6x6" paper stash.

I flipped the little figures over to the back and, using a blade,
cut through the backing paper to make a template for their clothes.

I started making a little scene on a piece of 8-1/2 x 11" with the impish, elfish characters.
There are two girls & two boys, just like the grands! <3

2017 Pink Fresh Studio Live More acetate alphas for the title.
I wanted an invisible way to attach the letters. I thought the stitching would convey the wind.

It lost something in the translation! I traded out the yellow floss for white to minimize the damage.
Then I went berserk with stamping... I still like it, though!

Makes me smile!

111217 CKC November Challenge #1

Counterfeit Kit Challenge
Challenge #1 - Just the opposite

Lisa's first November challenge:
"November often gets a bad rap and many here in Europe
consider it to be the greyest, dampest, dullest months of the year. Some years ago, I decided that I was going to find the positive in this special (for me) month and actively looked for the bright moments that would make me happy.

And I have to tell you that there are a lot of them - there are many more blue-sky days than I ever realized and the festive lights and decorations that can often be found in November in the run up to Christmas can always brighten up even those dull, grey days. And of course, it's the end of autumn and beginning of winter, both of which make me very happy!"

So for this challenge, I'd like you to be inspired to find the positive in something and create a project about it.

My lovely kindred spirit soul sister came to visit me for my birthday, as a special gift from her dh for her birthday! All sorts of things to cram into our limited time together. My husband went up to the cabin to do some work so we ended up spending our time luxuriously doing none of our planned activities. Leisurely breakfasts (she said she felt like she was at a great B&B, lol) & then laid back days & evenings. No one needing anything. No one expecting us anywhere. It was amazingly restful & rejuvenating.

Fun with paint & ink.

 Fussy-cutting fun.

110717 Total Eclipse of the Heart

I have finally given myself liberty to scrap some of what has been lurking on my desk. I have been having printer woes for awhile (and unfortunately it's not over yet) & have created a bit of a backlog of ideas in the queue while waiting on the photos.

This page is about our last minute decision to travel this past summer to the totality zone of the

Okay. I DO know that this was a solar eclipse, in spite of the starry night sky background paper. It really helps represent the most dramatic effect of totality - it got dark! I like how it supports the dark photos.

Journaling: We kept waffling about whether or not we would travel south to see totality. You knew how much I wanted to see it so on the spur of the moment, off we went!

Isn't this pocket card perfection? Perfect sentiment & it gave me that third aqua color for an accent. And hey - it made a perfect pocket! Now I can find those glasses at the next eclipse, hehe, and I love that they were printed with the date & location. The flair matched perfectly.

The next perfect piece? The Pink Fresh Studio/Indigo Hills wood clip that screamed eclipse to me. Lining it up with the vellum circle confirmed it. The stitching truly mimics what it looked like just after totality with the sunlight bursting forth again. It also gave me a subtle way to anchor the vellum.

I used that adorable aqua Felicity Jane rubber heart to draw attention to the title. I mounted the FJ alphas under the vellum & I love how it looks. The rest of the title is at the bottom of the circle - a play on an old song title. The last perfect element!

He's such a dear, darling man! <3
I had fun using my vintage typewriter for the journaling elements.

110417 CKC November Forgeries

A reminder of our November inspiration kit:

Citrus Twist November 2016 "Emerson" Kit
I had a go at the embellished wood veneers.
All I needed was a brown ink pad & a simple graphic background stamp!

In the case of the arrowed heart, I masked the arrow with Post It notes.

There ya go!
