040117 April Archi-scraps Challenge

Archi-scraps April challenge: Use sewing - hand or machine
I think this one may be the most outrageous one yet!!!
#moremoneythansense

Timing is everything...
My poor peach took a tumble at pre-school and split her lip...

Thankfully, a trip to the plastic surgeon, a few stitches, and a little time& someday
she can entertain herself by inventing dramatic fictions of how she came by the scar.

An odd take on the prompt but - I hope - creative, nonetheless.

Poor baby! The before photo makes me cringe every time I see it.

I tore the patterned paper circle in half & stitched it back together plus a simple stitched heart.

Good as new!

I used product almost exclusively from the Felicity Jane March kit, including the stamp set.

032417 Spring 2017 Mantel

Our new place has the oddest mantel! It is so tall & imposing, with a beam at the top.
I had purged so much in the move that I was eager to dress it with some of my favorite things.

I knew that I wanted a spray of pussy willow branches, and that I had the perfect
container for them - a large aqua Mason jar. Finding it was not so easy!
The artwork is a watercolor by my grandmother.

So pleased with how it turned out.
Simple.  Serene. Spring!

030717 March Archi-scraps Challenge

Archi-scraps March Challenge inspiration:

Use mosaics
This may be the happiest place I've ever seen with all that gorgeous colour!

My original idea was to punch hexagons out of beautiful papers to puzzle together
a background or perhaps a border. Then I spied this on a Persnickety Prints product ad:

030417 CKC March Forgeries

My counterfeit kit this month, Inky Fingers Again, was named for the fact that I
made some forgeries. I have really missed working at the counterfeits & had a lot of fun.

First up is that bold blue & white stripe paper.

I made my calculations & cut my blue strips.
The "oops" is the fact that I had an extra stripe left!
I rarely sort out the math in paper crafting with any success.

I simply flipped one of the stripes over to create a spacer that would reveal the white
background between the blue stripes, which were adhered down with a line of tape runner.

Next is the ombre circle paper.

At first I thought I would use these circle stamps, but by the time
I got to forging I'd forgotten all about that idea, lol!

So I used a circle punch to make a template for drawing the circle grid.

Then painted it with watercolours.

The last paper I tackled is the butterfly paper,

using two extremely old stampsets.

My thought was to mix a puddle of a variety of colours & use it to stamp,
but the images were muddy & blotchy & obscured the detail of the stamps.

I grabbed my set of cheap ink pads which worked great!
I plan to fuzzy-cut some of these elements for embellis.

Finally I made a gold stuffed heart.

I used a scrap of kraft paper for the base & punched a heart for the felt stuffing template.

I overlaid a piece of gold metallic vellum & stitched around it.

A very successful set of forgeries this month!

030117 March CKC Kit Reveal

 I am
#soreadyforspring

and thanks to Master Forger Margie's kit choice for March, I'm beginning to believe it's possible!

Joining us this month is our Guest Designer Raelene. Checking out her blog to get to know her better took me to her February listing of monthly scrap challenges - awesome! Please give her a hearty welcome & lots of love on her posts this month.

Hip Kits Club provides our inspiration kit with their February selection:

Here is my "Inky Fingers Again" March kit:

That beautiful 2015 Basic Grey/Tea Garden/rose hip floral at the top gave me a close match.
The black & white camera is a mere scrap likely to be colored & fussy-cut for an embellishment.
The bold stripe, polka dot & bird/butterfly papers will be featured in our Forgery on the Fourth post.
The black & white brushstroke is from 2015 Felicity Jane/That One Day collection.
The black & white vine print & the small script is ancient stash of unknown origin on flimsy paper.
The tan diamond paper is a 2015 Crate Paper/Poolside with a good B side for this kit.
Last but not least is the ultimate stash buster - the multi-colored Skeeter's Sunsations - "An exclusive product from Paper Adventures" - from 2003!

2014 Maggie Holmes embellishment pack, 2015 American Crafts Thickers puffy embellishments pack, ancient stash of rub-ons from the Dollar Store, a few packs of goodies from Felicity Jane, gold glitter Thickers, 2011 chippy birds from the dollar bin at Joann that are a great match to the stamp set I used on a forged paper, plus one last forged element - the gold heart.

So happy to have gotten back to counterfeiting this month! Felt great to have "Inky Fingers Again"
