070118 Archi-scraps July Challenge

Archi-scraps July Challenge: bright color & paint
Doesn't this look like a happy place?

I went straight to MY happy place - photos of the grands :D
My daughter posted this photoseries of a couple of fabulous recent summer days.
Legoland, aquarium & an overnight visit to a splash park made it exciting & fun.

I used craft paints & this Jenni Bowlin shining star stencil:

Hope you are inspired this month!

061818 CKC June Challenge #2

CKC June Challenge #2
Midsummer Madness!

It's almost midsummer's day here in the northern hemisphere and I for one, love this turn of the year. Watching the days get longer until they reach this high point before the sun starts to head south again and days get shorter again is part of the year's rhythm that I particularly note. And we all know just how much the Scandinavians mark Midsummer's Day with parties and celebrations. Celebrate the summer solstice (or the winter solstice if you are south of us!) for yourself with your project.

We have a little inside joke that crops up every June until early December & this was the perfect challenge for it. I tried to keep it light-hearted even though for me it is anything but!

(I'm thinking that I may have to use a white pen on those pink letters to make them legible...)
Please forgive the bad lighting - it's night and the clock-which-is-actually-a-compass
transparent overlay makes a decent photo nigh impossible.

This ribbing continues until the Winter Solstice, which ushers in almost 5 months of winter weather.
It then becomes, "The days are getting longer," which of course means nothing until May...
I should probably find some way to add that on the page!

I must confess that this is a bit of a cheat as the overlay & the mini-letters were not in my original kit.
My page. My rules.
It's also another double-challenge as I've done the Whimsical Musings #285 be inspired by mini-letter stickers.

Let's see what you can make of this CKC challenge!

061618 CKC June Challenge #1

A little bird told me!

American Crafts - AT Sunshine & Good Times - Tweet Tweet Paper
Lisa's first challenge for us is this: "One of the papers in the kit features a selection of
cute, colourful, rather sweet birds which got me thinking. Be inspired by a story
told to you by a third party (aka "a little bird told me") for your project."

My inspiration actually came from the title phrase, "A little bird told me!"
My journaling will explain further...

I also followed Lisa's Whimsical Musing prompt #291 to use this sketch.

Sketch Savvy sketch #179

Hope you have an idea from all this inspiration!
Please share it with us.

061218 CKC June Forgeries

Here is our CKC June kit:
and a closer look at the papers:

I'm not sure where that spotted paper came from, but I tackled that plus an eyeglass knock-off.

Easy-peasy with this Tim Holtz layering stencil & some acrylic paints.
Just made one panel but I wish the colors where brighter...

Loved this fun paper! Immediately knew that I would find a stamp & play with watercolor.

I am probably going to use my kit this month to make a mini-book of the
beachy vacation we've just returned from so this was a fun playful image.
Remember to stamp off the edges for a better look.

If you look close up it's pretty messy, but watercolor is very forgiving!

Hope these were a help to you.

060118 CKC June Kit Reveal

Summertime... and the livin' is easy...
We've got a bright, fun kit to inspire us this month at CKC,
and a frequently sparklingly tiarad Guest Designer - Alice Boll!
You will enjoy her creativity.

Citrus Twist May 2018 Main Kit
The cute American Crafts - AT Sunshine & Good Times - Tweet Tweet Paperbird paper put me in mind of a pack of 2013 Lara's Crafts painted parrot veneer embellishments that started me on a fun vibe.

Let's open up the Magic Blue Box!

Good Times Ahead - it's a big one this month.
The oldest paper is "Patchwork" from the Basic Grey Aged&Confused Sublime collection, plus a few  2012 Studio Calico & My Mind's Eye.

Here's a little better look at the papers, plus a few extras that were left out of the kit pic.

A few closeups:

I've got some forgeries lurking so be sure to come back on the fourth!
Can't wait to see your version.
