020123 CKC February Kit Reveal & Blog Hop

Master Forger Cindy has invited the cheerful & uber-creative Karen Piettuszkiewocz to be February’s Guest Designer - yay!

The overall color scheme put me in mind of the color palette in the older Felicity Jane kits. I had a sub for a few years so went in search of all things FJ in my stash! Unfortunately the patterned papers were nowhere to be found without a deep dive. I did find a bundle of the solid paper included each month with the scalloped border 💕

I present “Felicitations, Jane!”

My papers include a pad of Vicki Boutin mixed media paper. plus the Paper Phenomenom “Ladies Who Lunch” kit, which has a similar color scheme but a slightly more modern, edgy vibe. I used it in my June 2021 CKC kit & loved those pages.

My kit includes every FJ item that I own! I am hoping to use up a ton of these embellishments.

010119 CKC January Kit Reveal

Are you ready for it?!?

Master Forger Susan has given us a sweet inspiration this month - say "Hello" to Hannah, Felicity Jane's mascot for their wonderful October collection.

BUT FIRST, let me introduce you to our first Guest Designer of the new year - The Practical Scrapper - Meagan Johnson!

I have been a traditional scrapbooker since 2002. I love recording my family’s memories and hoarding my stacks and stacks of supplies. I discovered the Counterfeit Kit Challenge in September of 2018 and have loved the opportunity to see my older supplies used in fun new ways!

Felicity Jane October 2018 Hannah kit

Such a light & airy feel to this kit, tempered by the unusual colour scheme. Here's a LINK for Crafty Jenn Schow's unboxing video for a better look. As always, I looked to the papers first.

Theirs:

Multi-colored floral, large random circles, dark woodgrain, scallop, pink diagonal stripe, grid, chevron, large sentiment, graphic pattern, stripe, large scallop, polka dot (or so I thought.)

Mine:

I came up empty-handed of any patterned paper with maroon for my feature paper but I love what I put together. I did have the advantage of a robust Felicity Jane stash but a handful of the papers are Pink Fresh. I added a little more color & texture than the inspiration kit afforded but kept to my analysis of their papers. Let's open the Magic Blue Box & take a look at the rest of my

090616 CKC September Challenge #1

CKC Challenge #1 

"Sketches are a great way to speed up the scrapbook process, or at least take one decision out of the scrapbooking process. I chose Sketch 34. All that white space could possibly give me the option of a fun background paper.

Now what story do I want to tell?

Actually, I really loved the page by Corrie Jones shown in the post...

...and since my theme this month is counterfeit counterfeiting I've done a scraplift!

Addie was the perfect birthday princess :)

I fussy-cut "hello" from a card that came from Jeana in the kit. The background paper is the light pink solid (red on the reverse) & I left the scallop branding strip on as a border at the bottom. Three vellum circles help you eye move around the page. I tried my hole punch confetti again instead of mist splats, some tiny ones from the red on the back side.

 
 There are always really fun & cute stamp sets in the FJ kit! I've accented the vellum circle (above) plus the hello tag below & the cute column of tiny hearts. I substituted staples for the stitching. (You can see the pinkish hue of the darker red from the reverse side reflecting off of my backdrop around the edge.)

There will certainly be more birthday layouts this month as the kit is perfect for it!
Now get to work on Challenge #1 (wink-wink)

When the reveal email came, she gasped...

the exclusive kit WAS ONE THAT SHE SUBSCRIBES TO!!!

A dastardly plan began to form in her mind...

Within days, the kit arrived at the doorstep.

She furtively brought it inside & now presents it 

as her September counterfeit kit,named

"Incognito - The Counterfeit Counterfeit"

Now, all of you know that I absolutely delight in the counterfeiting aspect of CKC : )

BUT I make no apologies for my fake forgery!

Every month I get one of these lovely kits, but have yet to use more than an alpha set, 

embelli, or the occassional piece of patterned paper. This month I have set myself the

challenge of working exclusively with this kit. And in the end?

082416 CKC August Member's Blog Hop

 Welcome to my stop in the August Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog hop!

This month I completed all three of the CKC challenges but 

continued working with my Textur Deutsch counterfeit kit.

I am trying harder to use up more of my kit during the month.

  This page was created by having a troll through what was left in the Magic Blue Box...

 I was determined to use those small wooden spoons and serendipity led the way. 

Two crossed spoons were in the box right next to that little bundle of twine, 

looking just like an "X" and an "O" - suggesting love. 

Of course, the spoons are what you would use with ice cream... 

can you see where this is going?  

I rolled up Tim Holtz glassine paper - the perfect color for an ice cream cone - and flattened it. 

I debated about how to make the pattern of a sugar cone, and settled on a small 

polka-dot embossing folder - much quicker than tediously scoring it. 

Then I freehand cut a big "scoop" of chocolate ice cream...

I used my tiny attacher to staple the spoons together, but I still needed some 

dimensional adhesive under the ends of the top spoon to help it sit steadily in place. 

Aren't those Felicity Jane little stamped ice cream cones & sentiment just perfect? 

 I anchored the page with that strip of Paper Studio thin kraft colored washi.

The tiny Prima heart button, sewn on back side up, was perfect to fill in that big empty "O".

And who ever gets by in hot summertime without a few drips?

The woodgrain sequins in my kit are adhered with floss French knots.

My goal with this kit was to maximize the use of texture.

The distressed patterned background paper, shiny sequins, the embossed 

cone fashioned from waxy glassine, metal staples on the wooden spoons, 

wooden button, jute twine - even the kraft & puffy alphas do their part.

My journaling around the edges bemoans the fact that these days it is 

hard to find an ice cream flavor with a chocolate base.

062016 WM#212 Inspired By Daily

Lisa asked us back in early May to

about that experience or another daily challenge - whatever that might be! 

Things that happened daily in the past but not today. 

 Things that you'd LIKE to be part of your daily routine even.

I was traveling when this prompt came out so it's been percolating awhile, hehe...

The photo was taken on my birthday last year trying out my new selfie stick.

The coffeepot image is the cover of the booklet that came with the pot.

Yes - I saved it! I knew it would come in handy, lol.

I can't really get a photo to do justice to the color in these gorgeous papers.

The yellow puffy Pinkfresh Studio letters & "love" puffy sticker came from last month's Note to Self Felicity Jane kit. The"good morning" stamp around the border is from FJ's That One Day kit.

The PL card & cup diecut are American Crafts/Shimelle True Stories ephemera.

I added the little bird silhouette to bring in a little more black.

I dearly wanted to use rub-ons for the coffee steam but opted instead for stitching.

I also added machine stitching with variegated thread around the inner border.

I needed just a little something added to the JAVA love title, so I ferreted out these Hambly rub-ons.

I doubt that I ever would have scrapped that bed head photo without this WM prompt.

060216 A Few Loose Ends

Just a little wrap up of a few pages of late...

First is WM#213 - inspired by a selfie.

Totally FUN moment with my daughter on a recent beach vacation.

The little crabs are a punch, and I added the cute little eyes.

 

Could that card more perfectly match her expression, lol :D

 

 My June Archi-scraps page was revealed on the first of the month.

Here's the inspiration - the challenge is mosaic/color scheme.

My take:

I grabbed a couple of 6x6" paper pads in the right colors.

I used some floral punches to create the mosaic element.

(I couldn't resist adding the stamped emojis to enhance the progression in the photos!)

And the page was begging for a little something top right.

A quick snip of one of the ruler papers, an FJ stamp, a banner shape & a quick fussy-cut & voila!

Next up is today's page, WM#211 - inspired by sunshine

 (I'm guessing that someone heard that she was going to the ocean)

I cut a transparency PL card in half to put the ocean on either side.

I love how much color it adds!

The warm late afternoon sun was so great for photos.

Lots more vacation photos to scrap!

Most will be in a mini-book that's in progress...
