Alaska Trip: Day Eleven, Cruising Glacier Bay

081615
Sunday
7:30 am

Awoke our first morning on the ship.
God gave us an orca breaching right outside our window!
If we both hadn't seen it, I don't think we would have believed it.

Heading topside as apparently we are in the vicinity of glaciers!

WOW

Hot pea soup on deck. Marvelous idea, and delicious!

Hoodie hair! I really wanted to remember this back alley way
we had to use to get use to get out onto the deck on the prow.

We saw a number of glacier inlets so the photos are a bit of a jumble,
but they capture the unique beauty of the Inland Passage.

Tomorrow? Going ashore to Ketchikan.

Alaska Trip: Day Ten, Glacier Point

081515
Saturday
10:00 am

We are taken to the cruise ship docks to rendezvous with our Glacier Point Wilderness Safari boat.

Yes, please.

We arrive at Glacier National Park, have a quick sammie lunch, then on to the trail head.

We get a life jacket & sturdy wellies.

Uh-oh, it looks a lot farther away than expected...

Getting closer...

This may look close, but those trees in the middle are an island!

Are we there yet?!?

Even closer!

We landed! The earlier group informed us that they had been on a walk on the moon.

We are beginning to understand what they meant...

Now we walk back.
ALL the way back...
(can you see those teeny tiny people way back there?)

Another glorious sunny day, skimming across the water...
waving at some harbor seals enjoying it, too.

(This one looks like a torpedo that washed up!)

Ready to start our first cruise...

Tonight is the big dress-up gala dinner.
