030615 CKC March Challenge #1

It's the 6th and time for the first challenge from Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog!

Challenge #1: Border Craze:  Use dies cuts, stickers, gems, stamps
to create a border around your page!  Get creative!

I was a little afraid of this one =8~O
I decided to use the MME Jubilee Tangerine Mixed Bag of embellis.

Got this far but something was definitely not working so hot...
and everything but the shield, photo & mat were stuck down!

I pulled these goodies from my kit in the hopes of perking things up.

All along I had known that the Color Shine schmutz application
would make all that white background behave.
What I needed was a way to get the border to LOOK like a border!

Here is a close-up of those Heidi Swapp stamps.
I keep these out on my desk to add that "little something".
I love the extra detailing that stamping adds & it definitely helped save this page.

This piece in the banner stood out like a sore thumb until I added the tiny sentiment heart.

Even this star sequin stamp perked up my border.
I changed out the floral elements for flair, added some twine to the banner,
a little journaling across the top & some Jubilee Project Life-style cards
underneath the photo mat. It's all quite busy but that's how it feels with
the boys here, so I'll pretend I did that on purpose!

Hope to see your own creation for Challenge #1 at CKC.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Wow! This is lovely Leslie. All those individual items plus stamps must have taken ages to do.

  2. This is great Leslie! There's a lot of "stuff" on there but my eyes go right to the photo of your sweet grandson. I love the way you added little stamped touches to tie it all together and the mix of colors in your embellishments really complement your photo.

  3. You're, right this one is a bit scary! You did a great job though!

  4. I had a bit of trepidation myself. :) Love what you did with your top banner, it's perfect! And the little layered award has me smitten. Great page. Those stamps and sequins did finish it up nicely.

  5. Oh that's fab another great interpretation on the idea!

  6. Excellent job. Fun to go through your process. Love the banner, and how you looped the twine. (note to self, try this)

  7. Wow that is cool love the top banner as well as the border around the page :) Yep the stamping did seem to make it all pull together a good tip to know :)

  8. Wow, you really did the challenge up right. Fab, fab, fab work!

  9. Thanks for sharing how you had something you weren't completely happy with and made some changes to turn it into a simply wonderful layout! So often the results of our creative time need a whole lot of tweaking and I know that I often wonder if it's just me that happens to! Thanks for sharing!
