051216 CKC May Challenge #2

Two Sketch Challenge

Jemma often uses sketches to get started with a layout.
She has chosen two from Page Maps from the same era as our inspiration kit
for the second CKC challenge this month.

I chose the second sketch.

My bold striped background paper has a quote that I wanted to include and
instead of the strip of patterned paper at the top I used a panoramic photo.

My elements are on a larger scale than the sketch so the tag ended up
in a cluster on the bottom right as a foundation for an additional photo.
The horizontal element at the bottom of the sketch didn't make it at all!

The title is a bit of a play on words as our retreat is in Gladwin :)

I liked the contrast of the contemporary papers & transparent elements with the Amish images.

Let's see what you can do with one of these FAB sketches for inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Oh I like the bit of black on this page - makes the design pop even more. Well done.

  3. I agree with Susanne - the black elements really make a nice statement and pull everything together. Great substitution with the panoramic photo and I like how you pinned that acetate piece in the white space. Gorgeous photos too!

  4. The panoramic photo is a nice touch and one I need to remember. I love this background paper - said that already and you've really picked out elements from your stash that go so well with the photos and the story your are telling. Do you write in pencil?

    1. Yes, I do write in pencil. The lead in mechanical pencils is hard enough that I don't have problems with smearing. I was writing in pencil first & then copying over it with pen but decided that's an unnecessary step...
