060119 Archiscraps June Challenge

Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland
Use a book page or a library pocket.

I am challenging myself to try mixed media instead of my usual scrapbooking to achieve the Archi-scraps challenges this year. This month I started out with one of these that I've had for-ev-er:

I have been tossing photos & addresses into it of the places I have lived, with the vague notion of documenting them in some creative way. The library card in our challenge unlocked the door!

My original elaborate plan was to cover the box like a true book, with stabilized fabric wrapped around to the back side of the covers. I planned raised elements on the spine and the cover. I got so overwhelmed that I almost talked myself out of the whole thing!

Took a deep, cleansing breath & set my brain to SIMPLIFY.

I used this gold texture paste & a scruffy old paintbrush to mimic gold-edged pages. Easy-peasy!

The library card has my name as the author & the title of the "book" is Where I Have Lived.
The entries have the stamped year & a handwritten address for each place. I lined the box with a Maggie Holmes paper to mimic marbleized book end papers.

I added some real keys & a rusty metal house embellishment to my "keyring" of house tags. There will be 18 when I finish - I ran out of tags!

I am learning to use my initial elaborate ideas as inspiration for a manageable strategy to achieve them! This project was a total success in that regard. Yay, me! lol Let me know what you think.

Hope you share your creation with us over at the Archi-scraps Linky.

Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks, Julene! I'm having such fun being creatively stretched with the Archi challenges by going off the page with my memory-keeping.
