092612 October (Scrap Happy Only) S.H.O.time LOAD Blog Hop!

It's always fun to remember what it is like to spend an ENTIRE MONTH scrapping a page EVERY DAY!
Aside from the usual advice about having enough adhesive & printer ink, I would say three things:

1.  Do your best to follow the prompts, but when it doesn't resonate with you, just scrap! Use a favorite photo, product, sketch, scraplift or whatever usually motivates you.

2. Be prepared to have a page or two that aren't favorites. Sometimes you will come away with more from the near-misses than the wowzer pages.

3. My favorite part of LOAD? The community! Be sure to take some time each day to look at the gallery & leave supportive comments. Spread the love!

Following are the retrospective pages from the LOADs I've done so far.
A few weren't completed due to real life interrupting, but I've done well over 400 pages since that
First LOAD, October 2010 (see here)

LOAD February 2011 (see here)

LOAD 0511 was interrupted

...but I still made 22 pages! (see here)

LOAD 1011 (see here)

LOAD 0212 (see here)

LOAD 0512 was interrupted...

...but I still made 22 pages! (see here)

I guess what I'm saying is - STICK WITH IT!
It is an AMAZING feeling to make a page EVERY DAY.
It sets up a priority in your day that is a commitment to yourself.

And if you aren't playing over at ScrapHappy you can't join in!

NOW hop on over to Katrina's blog!

  1. I love how you demonstrate with your layouts how determination pays off AND how there WILL be interruptions. Despite those life events, you still completed a boat load of layouts (pun intended!) In addition to all those great layouts I've completed since 10/10, the best thing I've gained from LOAD is YOU! xoxoxoxo

  2. Love those retrospectives. So cool. And the community is really SO important. I've been missing all of that recently so I'm hoping to drop in as much as I can :-)

    1. It will seem so strange without you! But as I just finished saying on this post - life interrupts! Go live it, and when you come back you can tell us all about it :~) You WILL BE MISSED <3

    1. You are more than welcome! I am really looking forward to playing along.
And I meant to say on your post how fun the cat cubby was, lol!
Mine will not stay off the table, so now I am debating if her own space would help? That or banishing her completely, lol!

    2. Well I don't have a door, so I can't keep him out anymore! But although he loves to get between me & whatever I'm working on, a few pets & I pick him up , aim him for the cubby & he's usually snoring away...he has to have his own space on my computer desk too or he gets in front of the monitor...I think he likes being looked at. As long as he feels he's getting the attention he deserves lol!

  5. LOVED all of your LOAD recap pages!! And this is true>> "Be prepared to have a page or two that aren't favorites." I certainly had some that weren't favorites during LOAD212 and LOAD512, but guess what, here it is, not even a year later, and when I go back through those pages, now all tucked into their appropriate albums, it doesn't even occur to me that I'm looking at a less than favorite page! I just enjoy the memory. Love that!!

    1. I am not by nature a fast scrapper, so this really pushes me to make decisions and move on. But I also know that I want to like my pages, so I confess to the occasional rehab, lol! I like your attitude better, though :~)

  6. Love your collection of previous pages! Such a great reminder that if life gets in the way you can still feel successful!

I really appreciate all the work you and Lynette are putting to make this S.H.O. work! You guys rock!

  8. I love your recap pages. (Especially the one that makes your LOs look like a deck of cards) But I REALLY love how you showed how life can get in the way of what ever we had planned.
So glad you are a part of this community!

  9. What fantastic re-cap pages!! Will probably be stealing your two-pager idea!
Great advice to do what you can and not get bogged down in those that were "incomplete" - you still did more pages in a month than most scrappers!!

    1. Steal away! I haven't had a month (maybe not even a week?) go by since that first LOAD that I haven't scrapped - it is now a part of my everyday life, and I love it that way.

  10. That is a lot of pages, great ideas! Community is the best, otherwise I wouldn't be here!

  11. First, let me say that my mouth is still gaping open from the "400 pages" comment! Holy moly, girl!!! That is fantastic!
All 3 points are spot on. So glad to hear I'm not the only one who had some pages that aren't faves. And the community is totally what makes this experience so amazing! We're all "SISTERS FROM ANOTHER MISTER" (as my sissy says of some of her BFF's)! Thanks for sharing, Leslie!

    1. I do have to say, Connie, that I have no kiddos at home, so that means I have a little more control of the demands on my time than some :~) But I had a really dry spell for many months (years?) where struggles with my teenage daughters made it really hard to go back & scrap the happier, younger days. I was really stuck. I didn't even plan on DOING LOAD back in Oct 2010, but signed on at the 11th hour the night before. Have never looked back, and all the wonderful talent & stories & pretty stuff & out-of-the-box pages I have seen on ScrapHappy & the LOADs ever since then have been amazingly inspirational. Wouldn't miss it for anything!
