081218 Myrtle Beach 2018 Vacation Mini-Book

I've been working on recording our memories from the 2018 annual birthday trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to celebrate the peaches birthdays. The twist this year is that we camped out in the trailer! I'll start out showing you how I made the book & then the pages (photo heavy post.)

I found this perfect 2017 BoBunny/Life in Color "Discovery" paper for the cover at the local Scrapbooks by the Sea shop. I chose a 6x9" format intending to make a simple folder-style book stitched together in the middle. When I counted up the number of pages I needed I decided to make three individual signatures (groups of pages) instead so I needed room for a spine.

That meant I needed a little added width so I used a doubled over edge for stability out of Maggie Holmes/Gather "Beautiful" paper. The rear cover continues the image from the front.

I dressed up the spine with a spangling of sequins in the stitching.

So! Let's get to the inside story...

 

I love how the large format photos look!

CKC August Challenge #1: A New Angle 

Cindy's first challenge is: Let's do something a little bit different on your layout. Use your favorite layout style and turn it a little bit to put it on an angle.  I've got a few examples on my Pinterest board here to help inspire you. I've picked two samples from my Pinterest for inspiration.

 When I put my kit together I had a number of photo choices that I thought would go well.

This one inspired some of the embellishment choices.

 I added the red gingham border 2010 Bo-Bunny Bunny/a gift of love "Block Party Fireworks" paper. 

The garden paper behind the photo is the B-side of the bright daisy paper.

I was happy to use the background paper since hexagons were a feature of the inspiration kit.

Hi there! My name is Doreen. I go by Doreena online as sort of shout-out to my hubby who likes to call me Doreena.

I've been scrapping for approximately 20 years and though I have scrapped and still scrap mainly 12x12s I recently started dabbling in Travelers Notebooks, Pocket Pages, and Project Life; in fact this is the first year I've attempted Project Life and let me tell you...it's been a learning process!

I'm loving the warm, lush, summery feel of this kit.

As I got my version together some photos came to mind to use.
