080120 Archi-scraps August Challenge

Colours, clock & gold.
The monthly Archi-scraps challenges never fail to provide unique inspiration.

This month's gave me direction for a set of photos that I've been wanting to scrap for a long time. The top of the clock tower reminds me of the steampunk-style "portal" to the fun world of Candytopia!

I did a lot stamping on the background paper, a beautiful print of a painted sky (which unfortunately doesn't photograph very well.) I hand colored details here & there & popped a few things up for some dimension.

I really wanted to bling up the title with yellow gold glitter, which meant printing the word onto cardstock & fussy-cutting it out. My first attempt with the glitter almost made me cry - it all fell off! Zig blue glue pen to the rescue. I backed it with tiny strips of fun foam, mostly to keep from gluing it to the desk!

Hope to get a look at what you are inspired to create!

Thanks for stopping by!

071820 CKC July Challenge #2

Master Forger of Ceremonies Clair has another clever challenge for us!
Back Yard Adventures!

"You can choose to take this literally, and scrapbook about the 'adventures' you have had in your own back yards; or you can take it a little more loosely and talk about the local adventures that you've in your local area. While we're not able to travel as widely as we normally can, it's nice to focus on the fun to be found closer to home."

Having just had a rare family gathering I couldn't help but want to share some of those photos. And what better way than using this A Cherry on Top sketch challenge?

https://www.acherryontop.com/

I also incorporated our July Challenge #1 to use only b/w plus one color. Fortunately I had included some purple tones in my kit!

I'm not usually this literal when using a sketch for inspiration but it was definitely a fun bit of play.

I used a lot of punches for this page, along with buttons, ribbon, flair, wood veneer & even that cute little tiny clip at the top! Thank you, Clair, for a very inspiring challenge.

Don't forget, there are a few more things happening before the end of July:

  • July 24th: Showcasing one of the CKC community who's caught Clair's eye this month
  • July 30th: We'll be offering another installment in our Killing Kits Series to help you find ways to use up all of your kit.
We always love to see your work, so please share your kits and projects with us. You can use our Monthly Link-up page, post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcjuly2020).

Remember, forging does NOT mean a grinding, tedious process!

Can't wait to see your kits, counterfeits & creations. Make sure to link up at our Monthly Link-up page, post them in our Facebook Community, or share them on Instagram (we are @counterfeitkitchallenge or tag us using #counterfeitkitchallenge and #ckcjuly2020).

070120 CKC July Kit Reveal

https://www.dealdash.com/blog/its-the-end-of-july-dealdash/

Summertime, and the living is easy...
(at least in my half of the world)

Master Forger of Ceremonies Clair has given us a novel kit this month to forge, but first let's meet her Guest Designer, Jess Claire (Scrapbooker. Project Lifer. TN scrapper. Working Mamma.)

Hi, I'm Jess. I'm 32 and a mum to Ben, who's five. We live in England and I work in a local school as a Teaching Assistant. I've been scrapbooking now for about six years. I started with Project Life, but now I do mainly Travellers Notebooks and 6x8 layouts. I love a lot of white space, layered papers and simple colour schemes and my layouts aren't finished until they have some ripped edges, phrase stickers and gold foil. Until recently, I've been on DTs for the last four years, so I'm now loving the fact that I can dig into my stash and rediscover some forgotten treasures and scrapping from a small selection really helps me to be productive. I'm looking forward to sharing my layouts with you this month.

Jess can be found at her blog Jess Claire Creates , on Instagram @jess.claire.creates, and on YouTube at Jess Claire Creative Scrapbooking.

Introducing our July inspiration kit, Garden Party from digital Sahin Designs.

I am a lover of color & pattern so I love the creative stretch Clair gave me with this kit! I began searching for the patterned papers first. I took the slight liberty of inserting a few shades of purple into my kit but I still think that it reads quite neutral.

2015 Felicity Jane Susie/sawtooth, really old Tim Holtz holiday paper brown b-side, 2016 Felicity Jane Suse Fish Happy Day/doodles, 2016 Felicity Jane Emeline/tiny polka dot, 2013 October Afternoon Girl Talk/Gossip, Art Impressions Blue Heart Buds, 2001 Anna Griffin floral, 2013 Glitz Design 77/Feather, 2012 BoBunny Serenity/Serenity Blossoms, 2012 Crate Paper Maggie Holmes/Elizabeth Kate, Crate Paper Portrait/Vintage Lace, Bazzill Basics Spooky & Kooky/Purple Houndstooth,  unknown.

I thought that the 2016 Felicity Jane Suse Fish Happy Day/doodles was a good replacement for the scripty word paper, as it resembles the Garden Party stamp set from Sahin Designs.

I also added a specialty paper, Prima's 2018 holographic foil Flirty Fleur/"Pretty Birds".

Here is my full  love always  kit:

Really loving the calm vibe of my kit, very welcome in these troubled times. Hope this finds you safe & well. Next stop on the hop? Our inspiring Head Master Forger Lisa!
