020121 Archi-scraps February Challenge

 

Layers!

I grabbed my January Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit & immediately grabbed these two papers:

Crate Paper/Maggie Holmes 2019 Heritage "Library" & 2016 Gather "My Story"

As a nod to the inspiration photo's randomly placed levels, I cut up the woodgrain paper in single width sections where they connected in the pattern and played around for awhile layering & weaving them over each other. (Forgot to take a photo)

Then I added my photos on top until I was happy with their placement. Aren't these FUN?

I added black mats to the photos to help them stand off that busy background. The black & white photo got a black foam mat to pop it a bit. I placed a few more little wood strip details where I felt they were needed. Next I added the title from the large black foam letters 

 

& cut a couple of two-way arrows for accents. Stamped the date & called it done!

This fun app showed me afresh how much my daughter & I resemble each other, she & her daughter's shared looks, and how our three generations of women are interconnected.

081820 - CKC August Challenge #2

Family Fun! 

 Master Forger of Ceremonies Tina has discovered a great theme for the month of August.  Every year, "Family Fun Month" is celebrated throughout the month of August.  It is the opportune time to enjoy family with extra fun and activities. Show us how your family has fun!

We had a "grand" day at the blueberry U-pick farm. It was a first for the grands & two out of three enjoyed it :) The third enjoyed eating them later the most!

 I decided to use this sketch challenge from A Cherry on Top:

I grabbed the blueberriest blue paper in my August kit for the background. I didn't really want to add that second paper in the center so I used some of my micro-washi tape to suggest that layer. Some cute diecut blueberries made one cluster, the title a second & a final sentiment the third - all adorned with cute bug stickers. A journaling spot filled in a hole in my design due to the horizontal orientation of my photos. I also really didn't like the "trapped space" square in the center of the sketch, so I fussy-cut a cute pic of one of my berry bearers revealing her haul!

I had fun popping things up for a little dimension & adding the little bugs for whimsy!

071820 CKC July Challenge #2

Master Forger of Ceremonies Clair has another clever challenge for us!

Back Yard Adventures!

"You can choose to take this literally, and scrapbook about the 'adventures' you have had in your own back yards; or you can take it a little more loosely and talk about the local adventures that you've in your local area. While we're not able to travel as widely as we normally can, it's nice to focus on the fun to be found closer to home."

Having just had a rare family gathering I couldn't help but want to share some of those photos. And what better way than using this A Cherry on Top sketch challenge?

I also incorporated our July Challenge #1 to use only b/w plus one color. Fortunately I had included some purple tones in my kit!

I'm not usually this literal when using a sketch for inspiration but it was definitely a fun bit of play.

I used a lot of punches for this page, along with buttons, ribbon, flair, wood veneer & even that cute little tiny clip at the top! Thank you, Clair, for a very inspiring challenge.

061819 CKC June Challenge #2

CKC Challenge #2

Use circles - includes circular embellishments.

My inspiration came from this Pinterest layout:

 Alas, the elegant simplicity factor ended up completely eluding me...
I did end up with 15 circles, though!

This adorable photo by my daughter inspired me. My son-in-law surprised her with a much desired egg chair for her porch, which was immediately commandeered by the grands!

I had a lot of fun with this one. There were some technical difficulties along the way but a little extra patterned paper border circle (2009 Basic Grey Nook & Pantry/Flour Sack, sigh...) hid the worst of them. As always I am happiest when I'm fussy-cutting & scrapping the little moments. I hope you are inspired!

050119 Archiscraps May Challenge

Archi-scraps May Challenge

Yellow, black & white plus a clock!

And so I begin... with this Tim Holtz Idea-ology Assemblage Clock!

Then I hunt up a particular black & white photo of my mommy & I,
since Mother's Day is celebrated in May here in the U. S.

Spring 1959

 I've just completed a major renovation of my studio space due to getting new flooring. Now I hunt & gather what I will need for this project, many of which are Prima/Finnabair products. In the heat of the creative flow I neglected to photograph each step, but they are simple enough to describe.

I began by removing the glass on the clock & coating the entire piece with black gesso. I worked on the background inside of the clock first by adding LuminArte Primary Elements artist pigments & chunky gold glitter, sealing it with final fixative spray. I glued lace to the sides & added a flowering branch to mimic the photo & add a touch of true yellow. I bent the petals of a Prima dimensional metal flower to hold my photo, securing it with raised foam adhesive dots.

 I then used matte medium to glue polka dot crepe paper around the outside of the clock. I added lots of gold accents with metallic paint, a jaunty little plaid bow & charm, and decorated the metal butterfly with Prima/Finnabair Opal Magic paints.

The final product meets the criteria - a yellow/(gold), black & white colour scheme plus a clock!

I may continue to challenge myself to try other dimensional projects each month
using the a-ma-zing creative Archi-scraps inspirations!

091818 CKC September Challenge #2 + WM#302

Autumn Equinox - Fall begins!
 

Good Morning and we have the 2nd Challenge of the month. This challenge is about the Autumn Equinox - Fall begins! Well in a couple of days it does Sept. 23

Do a project about Fall-Anything Fall related- leaves, apples, cold weather and so on. What does Fall mean to you?

Fall for me is a chance to freshen up my seasonal mantel.
I won't have outdoor photos that reflect the change of season
for awhile so this really puts me in the mood!

I set my Freckled Fawn I <3 Fall coffee mug epoxy button 

sticker on the table beside the couch, wink-wink.

And I had to use some of the fabulous We R Memory Keepers Shine collection cork stickers.

Does anyone else feel like some of the older things are looking better & better? lol

And I've got another double inspiration!

has to do with how much she loves fall - so much that she 

actually has a hashtag about it! #watchmesmile

071218 CKC July Challenge #1

CKC Challenge #1: Forget-me-not!

We all have them - those tools and embellishments that get pushed to the side and are collecting dust. Pull out those forgotten tools and embellishments and put them to use - punches, brads, buttons, ribbon, rub-ons, dies or die cutting machines, etc. Show those forgotten items some love again!

I took Lori's challenge & broke out a couple of lonely punches. 

I used the flower punch for the firefly derrieres!

Another double challenge for me - Whimsical Musings #279, be inspired by catching something!

I ran across the photo in my current hunting, gathering, and sorting of all of my photos. 

It triggered a cascade of vivid childhood memories of visits to our cousin's farm. 

I was immediately transported to their cornfield, chasing fireflies in the twilight.  

Being suburban kids climbing in haylofts, riding on tractors & harvesting 

vegetables right out of the ground was high adventure!

I chose the Pink Fresh Studio's Dream On/Reverie constellation paper for my twilight sky. 

I had to do a stash dive for the 2003 dark green Free Letters paper by Wordsworth Stamps.
My forged PL card was bumped by the PinkFresh Life Noted perfect color puffy alphas.
 Simple but striking design, I think! The hardest part was finding a place for the journaling.

Lots more memories rising up as I go through my photos! Stay tuned...

A little bird told me!

American Crafts - AT Sunshine & Good Times - Tweet Tweet Paper

Lisa's first challenge for us is this: "One of the papers in the kit features a selection of 

cute, colourful, rather sweet birds which got me thinking. Be inspired by a story 

told to you by a third party (aka "a little bird told me") for your project."

My inspiration actually came from the title phrase, "A little bird told me!"
