060422 CKC June Forgery on the Fourth

Just a reminder of our inspiration kit:

Link HERE

First I really liked this Crate Paper #1 month card paper:

The Autumn Leaves alpha stamps were too large to do a vertical orientation. I stamped a second generation image with Archival black ink & then water colored each month a different color. I accidentally forgot to off-stamp September so I colored it grey to draw attention away from my mistake!

I did add a nice little feature. I used a tracing wheel to create perforations to make it easy to separate the months as needed!

Next up is Crate Paper #4. It's shown in the inspiration with the tiny dot but I liked the strip & sentiment side better!  I'm not sure which is actually the a-side.

So I took the easy way out & scavenged my washi supply, plus added some stamped sentiments here & there from my stash of Felicity Jane stamp sets & a few tiny images.

A slight cheat of the Paige Evans Bungalow Lane #22 tag paper.

I pulled a good selection of tags & laid them out on a 12x12" base. Just pretend that I've fussy-cut these when you see them on a layout!

(You old faithful CKCers might have spied that tag with the sequins - a very old forgery!)

Slipped one last counterfeit in at the last minute - I loved that Crate Paper #3 with the geometric letters, so I pulled this Shimelle/Little by Little paper & stitched the letters G-O. I can see using a vertical strip of this on a travel layout this month.

So have a little fun & try your hand at counterfeiting. It can be simple or elaborate but it's always FUN. Be sure to share with us so we can add to our repertoire of forgery techniques!

Here is what the rest of the month looks like.

060122 CKC June Kit Reveal & Blog Hop

Bring on SUMMER!

On repeat as June's Master Forger of Ceremonies is Kate again! Look what she's got for us to counterfeit for the month of June here at Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog:

Link HERE

The papers are a mix of 2021 Paige Evans Bungalow Lane & a row of throwback 2015 Crate Paper Craft Market (shown in the squares at the bottom of the papers.) I decided to be inspired by paper #13 in the Bungalow Lane collection, which I own but is not in the inspiration kit:

(I felt like the Bungalow Lane collection colors were well represented.)

These Crate Paper/Craft Market papers gave a good opportunity for some forgeries. (I substituted the b-side of the bottom left paper in the photo because I liked it better!)

Crate Paper 2015 Craft Market papers

I'll start by showing you my paper selections. Many are pretty obvious & others are seemingly quite random but I always have a method to my madness, which occasionally involves b-sides.

Top row: counterfeit, 2017 Shimelle/Little by Little stars, counterfeit, 2021 Maggie Holmes/Market Square Sunny Day, 2021 Pebbles/Kid at Heart Playful, counterfeit from 2017 Shimelle/Little by Little large alphas.

Bottom row: 2021 Amy Tan/Brave & Bold, 2011(!) BasicGray/Out of Print Daily News b-side, 2021 Paige Evans/Bungalow Lane #13, 2021 Obed Marshall/Fantastico Limitless, 2020 Vicki Boutin/Love This Life mixed media, 2017 Echo Park/Go.See.Explore. You Are My World b-side, Bella Blvd/You Are My Sunshine Happy Thoughts.

My happy June Confetti kit!

Includes a large stash selection of tags plus 2021 Cocoa Vanilla Studio Sunkissed florals.

49 and Market Vintage Artistry Roughly Sewn rub-ons, 2006(!!) Autumn Leaves Snap Frame alpha stamp set.

Puffy stickers at top: 2022 PinkFresh Life Right Now, 2019 Elle's Studio Shapes & Dots.

2019 Genius Thickers words & shapes.

2014 Craft Market phrase stickers.

I've also included (not pictured) the sticker sheets from Amy Tan's Brave & Bold collection & quite an assortment of alphas to choose from.

Be sure to continue hopping & don't forget to tune in tomorrow for the Just the Gist of It post! Can't wait to see what you find in your stash dive to represent the inspiration kit.

060122 Archi-scraps June Challenge

June Archi-scraps challenge: Use lots of leaves/greenery

Doesn't this look like seashells? Fascinating! Julene manages to find the most incredible inspiration. This is a photo of gardens by the sea at Singapore.

We took a vacation a month ago in search of Spring, especially the color GREEN. Our Winter season here in the U.S. was exceptionally long this year. We found it difficult to find much change even traveling quite far South.

The last leg of our trip took us to my in-laws in Springfield, Missouri. They have a wonderful botanical garden there & we positively drank it in!

I made a photo collage & wanted a leafy background, so I grabbed one that I had created for my April Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit. Here is a link to my blogpost on how I made my "forged" papers that month, including this leafy background.

I hope you are intrigued & inspired by the challenge this month! Share with us on the Archiscraps Community Group Facebook page.

050122 Archi-scraps May Challenge

Our May challenge at Archi-scraps is inspired by flying buttresses! Use a central picture (layout) or die cut/picture (card) and think of a way to have strips or curves coming out from it.

I was unexpectedly delayed on a vacation that turned into an extended stay due to medical issues with my mother-in-law. I was sure I would have to beg off on this month's challenge, and was quite disappointed as the project is laid out in my studio to be worked on when I return. To fill my time I've been working on downloading some digital files to my laptop & discovered the perfect Photoshop template from Sweet Shoppe Designs for the May challenge!

LINK

I also used a few elements from this kit:

My son-in-law's nephew recently accepted Jesus as His Lord & Saviour and was baptized on Easter Sunday. What a joy to our family & especially for his cousins to be able to go.

I was really happy that the colors in the photos coordinated so well with the page template! That saved a lot of work not having to change the digital elements to coordinate.

So jump in & join us this month! Post your version to the Facebook Archiscraps Community Group.

040422 CKC April Forgery on the Fourth

Forery is our reason for being here at Counterfeit Kit Challenge! It's been quite awhile since I've thrown myself into counterfeiting & I must confess I had a blast.

Papers and Beyond's Follow Your Bliss kit papers

First up is the flashiest - that Vicki Boutin wreath. I began by using the largest Altenew Creative Cutout: Nested Wreath (and by the way, what a great value - there are 9 pieces in this product pack) mounted to OneCanoeTwo's 2018 Saturday Afternoon Mosaic b-side.

Then I saw this beautiful DT creation from Steffi Ried at Paige Taylor Evans - swoon!

I used a variety of flower stamps from Vicki Boutin Fernwood  & Color Study on vellum with white embossing powder to finish off my wreath forgery, popping them up for dimension.

#2 is the Vicki Boutin Field Notes Field Notes paper. I remembered that I had a fountain pen stamp & started to forage for other stamps that might work. My version is ultra-simplified (feels like cheating!) but still carries the vintage vibe through. I adore VB papers but almost hate to cover it all up with my photos! This way I can easily use this version. I used Pink Paislee House of Three 2011 Daily Junque stampset - a total fave.

#3 the feathers. I found a bunch of feather stamps in my stash but couldn't decide how to get the colored effect without too much work, so I went for vintage gold heat embossing! I used the whole pack of 12 Momenta feather stamps as they came, which made quick work of the stamping. I just rotated it in different directions to fill the space. It's tough to capture the shine!

#4 are the happy pink daisy paper. I used a Vicki Boutin Color Study & an Inkadinkado floral stamps to heat emboss with white on a 2014 Amy Tangerine Rise & Shine paper! Another easy-peasy.

#5 is the tone on tone green leaves. My quick solution (after considering endless stamping) was to use a 6x6" Catherine Pooler Flourish & Whimsy stencil with spray inks. I used printer paper to mask off the edges & rotated the stencil one turn to the right each time I moved on to the next section. I sprayed first with Heidi Swapp Color Shine Chartreuse for the darker leaves.

After I did the four quadrants I oversprayed with Citron Color Shine. The final result is much less elegant than I had hoped but a fair forgery!

Last but not least #6 - the coffee cup stains! I used pieces of The Crafters Workshop 12x12" Well Rounded stencil plus a Recollections brand Splat stampset with Catherine Pooler, Vicki Boutin and Vic ? inks. I kept it somewhat simple again so I won't cover up the work I did.

The only other counterfeit that I made was a few of the wood button embellis.

Now I can get busy scrapping! Hope you are inspired :-)

Here's what we still have in store for you this month:

040122 CKC April Kit Reveal & Blog Hop

Aaah, Spring!

Let's begin with an introduction of Master Forger of Ceremonies Lisa's inspiring Guest Designer choice:

I'm beyond delighted to have Helen (DeRam) join us this month as our Guest Designer. She's amazingly talented and we have discovered a mutual obsession love of all things BasicGrey during our time together over at the Simple Scrapper Creative Team. She can be found on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/hderam/) and I know she is going to wow us all with her beautiful creations. Helen, welcome!

Master Forger of Ceremonies Lisa describes her April inspiration kit choice as follows:

You know how I like to try out new kits so off I went for some inspiration looking through the kit clubs listed on our blog. Papers and Beyond is new for me and I really liked what I saw. When I took a closer look at the Follow Your Bliss kit, I knew it was the right one for us this Easter month. A mix of funky Vicky Boutin and pretty Jen Hadfield, this American Crafts kit felt like a splash of spring with a lot of potential for gorgeous kits with possible forgeries sprinkled right in there! I hope you like it as much as I do.

Papers & Beyond Follow Your Bliss kit

Let's begin with the papers:

First image (l-r) 2021 Vicki Boutin Fernwood cut aparts, 2020 Echo Park Alice in Wonderland journaling cards b-side, Prima Painted Floral butterflies, 2018 OneCanoeTwo's Saturday Afternoon Mosaic b-side based wreath forgery, Amy Tangerine Brave & Bold large floral, Reminisce Earth Day leaf close up, vintage forgery, gold feather forgery.

Second image (l-r) Felicity Jane Susie b/w geometric stripe, unknown paper pad bees, unknown paper pad pink patterned stripe, Bella Blvd Make Your Mark Impossible, 2014 Amy Tangerine Rise & Shine based daisy forgery, green leafy forgery, colorful coffee ring forgery, Adorn It Circle of Friends Grandpa b-side.

Here's the full kit:

I ended up with a slightly more earthy palette but otherwise quite true to much of the inspiration. I slipped in that black striped transparency scrap as a nod to the original b/w patterned paper version. I'm thinking I may do a mini-book of some sort.

Embellishments: 2015 American Crafts Beautiful gold glitter Thickers, Prima Watercolor Floral & 2017 Bella Teal puffy stickers, Little Yellow Bicycle wood shapes & canvas butterfly stickers, 2018 Sticko Classic Smiley Emojis stickers, K & Company Flora & Fauna die-cuts, Studio 112 bird chipboard, Recollections Boho feathers, 2017 Amy Tangerine puffy stickers, 2020 Vicki Boutin Storyteller embellishments, and 2017 Shimelle Box of Crayons puffy stickers.

This month I may use a selection of alpha & nature stampsets that I've gathered for some of my forgeries. Be sure & get back to the blog on the 4th to see all the handcrafted goodies & resources that the team has put together for you! And make sure that you don't miss any stop on the hop!
