090115 CKC September Kit Reveal

Whew! 

August was a whirlwind of big doings.

We took a fabulous two week land/sea/air cruise to Alaska to celebrate the hubsters retirement, 

 

then returned home to welcome our new granddaughter, Adelaide Elise to the world!

Meanwhile, our September Guest Designer Cindy was busily compiling her kit forgery.

Studio Calico's August Scrapbook kit "Pop Art"

The Project Life, Card or Planner kits are options as well.

This kit is so far from my stash that I only found one paper I felt was a good match.

I subbed in some PL cards for the epoxy stickers which I never know what to do with!

This kit reminded me a lot of the Messy Box we did earlier this year.

I really enjoyed scrapping with that so I am hoping this inspires me.
I'm thinking a sweet little baby book, perhaps? hehe

112414 CKC November Members Showcase Blog Hop

Welcome!

You have reached a stop in the November Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog member's hop.

November's challenges were:

As I had already done Challenge #1 & #2 I am doing Challenge #3 for the hop.

There was a great link on Challenge #3 to this Crate Paper blog post

First I got inspired by that cute rocket paper in my kit.

 The paper actually has dimensional shadows printed in the pattern,

so I fussy-cut this little rocket out for the envelope. Reads as 

a "pop" but should travel through the mail just fine!

 I popped one of the rockets on the card along with some of the stars.

I couldn't believe I had that "Star Upon Star" music in my kit!

I popped the sentiment & the gold Wow! embellis, too, 

matted with black to mimic the mat on the rocket paper.

Next up is this card for someone special.

I put some large gold glitter in the center of the sunflower to make it "pop".

More dimension was added behind the flower petals & leaves.

The last card:

Although this could have been a blank card,

I have sent it off for a birthday this month.

I rarely make cards, but when I do I find it super-fun!

Who knew I had all those goodies in my kit?

080414 CKC Challenge #1

Another card challenge, this month from Hero Arts.

New One Layer Challenge! - The Hero Club Blog

 Create a one layer card. Use one piece of cardstock as your card base with no additional paper layers. Sponge, mask, emboss, glitter, and color to your heart’s content — so many techniques lend themselves to one layer cards! Embellishments ARE allowed for this challenge.

My first idea was to do a little chalkboard number 
with three layers of stamping...

 ...but  I think I need more practice 
at masking the different layers.
I do like how the polka dots look
colored in w/marker, though.

Then I tried a peekaboo card...

...and liked the idea but not the kraft,
so off to troll my kit for inspiration!

I decided to dry emboss the polka dots,
on vellum. I am strictly speaking using one
layer but I get the advantage of a peek at
everything on the inside.

Unfortunately, I first stamped the Hero Arts doily
stamp on the wrong side of the vellum & after wiping
 off the ink now the vellum is curling - ugh.

 It was a fun experiment, though!

071614 CKC July Challenge #3 Create a Panel Card

Now this was something I had never heard of!
What is a panel card, you say?

Imagine opening an envelope & drawing out a stiff card with a design on the front,
only there is no flap to open for the message, at least not on the background bit.

The REAL card is attached to the center - a "mounted" card, if you will!
I have worked with artist trading cards before so this mini-canvas size held no worries for me.

Diving into my July Sweet Summer kit...

...I discovered all sorts of goodies for a birthday card
for my eldest daughter who turns 27 this month.

A chalkboard sentiment in a wooden frame, dressed up with
clothespeg & ribbon forgeries with girlie stick pins.

I had to mount the shiny turquoise paper on white
cardstock as it was too flimsy to support the central card.

Inside:

And a custom envelope to match...

...including a shiny turquoise liner & chalkboard closure detail.
