050220 iNSD CKC Fantasy Scrapbook Kit!

iNSD CKC Fantasy Scrapbook Kit mood board inspiration
I just love our uber-creative Design Team! Thanks to Master Forger Laura, who found us this awesome mood board, we have collaborated to create an iNSD FANTASY SCRAP BOOK kit.
Each of us picked out a patterned paper, one embellishment and a "must-have" item.

Echo Park - Coffee Collection paper, Felicity Jane - Grace Collection journaling cards, PinkFresh Studio watercolors

As well as curating our very own CKC Fantasy Scrapbooking kit, each member of the MF team also came up with a challenge which we will be posting on the hour, every hour through the day - so set your alarm and see you back here soon!

You can find the details both on the blog and our FB Counterfeit Community where you can also share your kit & challenge creations.

We can't wait to see where our inspiration takes you!

050120 Archi-scraps May Challenge

Use brown and cream with ecru lace

The latest Archi-scraps inspiration is the exotic Dar Al-Hajar in Wadi Dhar outside of Sana'a, Yemen. It looks like an elaborately decorated chocolate cake!

I can't help but think of heritage layouts when I think of this colour scheme, and I happened to have the perfect photo at hand.

This is my father in-law & his sister. The early death of their mother resulted in the five brothers & sisters being separated. Being reunited really cemented the bond between these two for life. I'm planning to have him dictate his story when are able to see them again.

It's your turn to be inspired and share on the Linky at Archi-scraps!

100119 CKC October Kit Reveal

October is my birth month (yay, me!)
and the kit Laura has chosen this month
is - just like me - a definite throwback...

Let's take a look at
"Brand new October Afternoon Woodland Park conjures
images of bright blue skies and green grass.
We've paired it with just-released American Crafts,
Pebbles and Basic Grey, and finished the mix with
exclusive die cuts, badges, an alphabet and a label stamp set.
With our August kit, this summer can last forever."
Studio Calico August 2012 "Summer of '69" Main Kit

Studio Calico August 2012 "Summer of '69" Add On Kits
Here is Laura's intro to the kit & to our October Guest Designer!

Now, I know we always try to stay current for the challenge, but I thought this kit would work so well.
The name might imply summer, but the colours would work just as well for Autumn or spring layouts.
Many of us have been scrapping several years now and have a fair amount of stash.
This kit includes papers from some of the great manufacturers we all used to coo over - October
Afternoon, Basic Grey etc, so what a perfect way for us to have a rummage and pull out some older stuff
from our stash to use up.

Our guest designer for this month is a lovely follower of ours who plays along almost every month on Instagram.
Her name is Ayaan Nambier and she is from India. She has a dedicated scrappy profile and creates the most
beautiful and colourful layouts.

My version begins with the main kit & is sprinkled with pieces from the add-on kits.

Let's open up the Magic Blue Box & take a look at
Autumn of 2019

I chose my papers based on color & pattern from the inspiration: chevrons, dots, large allover print, sky,
 small print, navy, kraft swirl.

2011 Basic Grey/Out of Print 6x6; 2016 Echo Park/Just Be You Dream Big b-side; 2013 October Afternoon/Snapshots Focus b-side; WeRMemory Keepers/Farmers Market floral;  2011 Basic Grey/Plumeria Zig; WeRMemory Keepers/Farmers Market small print; 2018 Pink Paizlee/Indigo & Ivy 06; 2012 Crate Paper/The Pier Cotton Candy. *There is also a hexagon 12x12 paper that went walkabout. I mean - seriously disappeared... I can't wait to see where it turns up!

 The full kit:

Made a few counterfeits, so be sure to return on the fourth to check those out.

 Now let's keep hopping!

Here's what we have coming up this month:
  • October 2nd: I'll be back with a "Just the Gist" post to help jump-start your kit-making.
  • October 4th: We'll have our "Forgery on the Fourth" post where the Master Forgers will reveal how they created their own version of some of the items in this month's kit.
  • October 6th: We'll reveal a couple of mini-kits and projects, in case you're a little limited for time this month and would prefer a more petite kit.
  • October 12th & 18th: We'll give you two challenges to help you use the kit you've made.
  • October 24th: I'll be showcasing one of the CKC community who's caught my eye this month

090619 Whimsical Musings #328

Be inspired by back to school

First I feel compelled to express my heartfelt gratitude that my favorite inspiration site, Whimsical Musings, has returned from summer vacation! Just in time for me to scrap my grand boys return to school, plus my Counterfeit Kit Challenge September "Boys Rule" kit had tons of back to school goodies in it.

My background & the paper airplane cut-out is one of my CKC forgeries.

I fussy-cut one of my kit cards to create my title along with foam letters.

The little green caped super hero came from the same card as the title sentiment.

There's another super hero embellishment from that same card!

A forged card revamped for the sentiment.

Lisa has some great ideas that expand the prompt:

Let's have a think about some other ways you could take this prompt:
  • you could take a literal approach for the start of the school year for yourself, your children or any child whose story you're recording
  • you could recall the memories around the preparations for school - how about your love for school stationery supplies?
  • what about scrapbooking supplies that feature school motifs
  • perhaps you've gone back to further education later in life - this might be the time to record that story
  • I'm also thinking about any type of learning - a new skill, a class, something just for fun - could also be included here
  • there's even the idea that you could go back to a scrapbook class that you've left unfinished and continue with the lessons, making a page with your new design/technique skills
I feel like getting back to Whimsical Musings and blogging on a more regular schedule is some sort of "back to school" so this feels so appropriate for us this week. I hope you feel this is a good way to kickstart our reboot and will join in!

I just love that it took 24 hours from seeing the current Whimsical Musings #328 prompt to craft a page that I love. Now it's your turn!

060119 Archiscraps June Challenge

Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland
Use a book page or a library pocket.

I am challenging myself to try mixed media instead of my usual scrapbooking to achieve the Archi-scraps challenges this year. This month I started out with one of these that I've had for-ev-er:

Link HERE
I have been tossing photos & addresses into it of the places I have lived, with the vague notion of documenting them in some creative way. The library card in our challenge unlocked the door!

My original elaborate plan was to cover the box like a true book, with stabilized fabric wrapped around to the back side of the covers. I planned raised elements on the spine and the cover. I got so overwhelmed that I almost talked myself out of the whole thing!

Took a deep, cleansing breath & set my brain to SIMPLIFY.

I used this gold texture paste & a scruffy old paintbrush to mimic gold-edged pages. Easy-peasy!
Link HERE

The library card has my name as the author & the title of the "book" is Where I Have Lived.
The entries have the stamped year & a handwritten address for each place. I lined the box with a Maggie Holmes paper to mimic marbleized book end papers.

I added some real keys & a rusty metal house embellishment to my "keyring" of house tags. There will be 18 when I finish - I ran out of tags!

I am learning to use my initial elaborate ideas as inspiration for a manageable strategy to achieve them! This project was a total success in that regard. Yay, me! lol Let me know what you think.

Hope you share your creation with us over at the Archi-scraps Linky.
